People are saying it's bleak but at least people aren't buying random crap they don't need

Yeah, that is a bit of a silver lining to this cloud.

It's bleak to me because when denied the artificial highs of buying crap, they just switched to fake ones to get the fix. Instead of them doing something else that might make them happy in a more real healthy way.

Like breaking an addiction of a real thing, just to replace it with an artificial one.

Side note: you can acquire as much shop-amine and buy as much random crap as you want if you buy everything used!
