Whether or not it's optional it's still pretty dystopian. And I think we've seen the path before where something optional but "more secure" becomes mandatory and everything else gets shut off.

People having concerns for this stuff is how we have things like the fucking platform your on and many other things. You have too much shit to be grateful for to be saying some absolutely moronic shit like that.
I only use Lemmy if I'm on the clock. Im probably one of the few who's comments are high enough quality to justify paying for them. Granted, he doesn't know he is paying for it but my boss might join Lemmy one day and get to see the fruits of my labor/his money.
