It'd almost work if overwhelming hordes of zombies forced you along certain paths... and moved. Like if you want to go from point A to point B, right now, all sane routes are certain death. So you have to equip for one of a few hard-ass paths, all backroads and hidden tunnels, and you better hurry in case the hordes shift and swamp those too. Better check the plague forecast.

So halfway to a randomizer. You want to go between any two settlements? It's a completely different combination of hallways, today. Even if you've been down each segment a thousand times before, each one could become a nightmare, given the gun you had to pick anticipating the next segment, or whatever's chasing you after rushing through the last segment. Re-routing due to unforeseen obstacles becomes a life-or-death skill.
