The new image looks like a pretty significant improvement from the original design.

Still have zero faith in Bloobers ability to put out a game that isn't mid-at-best with bad performance issues.

Ascension is a literal joke, The Short Message had some of the worst writing I have ever had the displeasure of sitting through, I can't lie and say I am excited for SH2 Remake. No chance it recaptures the feeling of the original, especially ditching the unique camera style of the original for a generic over the shoulder camera seen in like literally every mainstream game these days.

Konami, if Silent Hill f isnt good, you better bury Silent Hill forever. Bring back Hybrid Heaven, you'll probably have better success with that.

Did you check out The Medium? I thought they did a fantastic job with it. Even though the core gameplay loop is "explore a bit and then evade a singular enemy you can't kill" like a lot of other half-baked horror titles, the game still felt very much like a spiritual successor to Silent Hill, imo.

Meh. I didn't find the medium all that scary, felt like it relied on jump scares way too much.

Personally I didn't find Silent Hill all that scary either. It was unsettling, of course, but it wasn't scary in the sense that anything made me jump. Silent Hill 1 had like two jumpscares in it, but Silent Hill 2 had zero, because SH1 was more of a traditional horror theme in the sense that it focused more on horror from gore and body horror. SH2 was purely psychological, and so it focused more on unsettling atmosphere, and a macabre story to match.

To me, it was clear the second game was inspired by the likes of David Lynch, even a bit of Alfred Hitchcock in there. And honestly, it was much better that way, it was able to deviate further from Resident Evil and not be compared too directly. Though RE2 started REs fall into the action shooter genre after the developers said they wanted it to be like a Hollywood action movie. Which is fine, but it left Silent Hill holding the Survival Horror genre on its back with only a few examples released later like Kuon and Rule of Rose.

Its unfortunate Konami meddled so much with SH3 and forced Team Silent to make it more like SH1. The pieces of information regarding its original storyline would have made a much better game, though perhaps for the time it came out it probably would not have been allowed to release with anything less than an AO rating from the ESRB.

The Medium was mid and had performance issues. Just like their other games.

IMO, >_Observer was probably their most interesting work which was also plagued by bad performance. Even Layers of Fear was not a game that I would consider incredibly good or memorable. Literally the only thing I remember is the main character had the most drunken wobble walk on the planet and that he was a painter. I don't even remember what the plot twist was. Silent Hill 2 though? I can remember nearly every plot point in the game.

God, I was absolutely loving Observer until I hit the generic "helpless whilst instakill monster hunts you, hide and run" bullshit started. Ruined the whole game for me.

This is another reoccurring problem.with Bloobers games, and I am really hoping that the hospital basement chase is the only section we get that is like that.

Strange that you believe Konami actually gave a shit after they fired Kojima and turned their primary attention to pachinko machines, so that Silent Hill fans can "HIT THE LEVER!"

It would be strange to not redesign the not good parts of the original. Like the fidelity of the characters or the delivery of the voice acting. But it would also be pretty funny.

they’re talking g about a redesign of the redesign. the first trailers for this remake got some flak but it seems like they polished the facial look a bit.
