I hope this doesn’t require a PSN account too.

[–] CileTheSane@lemmy.ca 12 points 6 months ago

Yarr, what's that you say me hearty?

[–] Zahille7@lemmy.world 3 points 6 months ago

I hope not too. The first one didn't, so hopefully this one won't.

Who fuckin knows though.

[–] DaseinPickle@leminal.space -3 points 6 months ago

I don’t think it’s required for single player games.

I think I'm more excited someone is just giving me attention

I’d also settle for Spider-Man 2 or the Ratchet & Clank remake.

[–] Zahille7@lemmy.world 1 points 6 months ago

Or shit why not all the old PlayStation games? I would pay decent money to play all the Sly Cooper games, all the Jak & Daxter games, and even the InFamous games on PC.

Personally I can't get into franchises when I don't start from the first games so I would love to see the OG god of war on Steam, hell wouldn't mind infamous too.

I just started the 2018 game. It’s a particularly good place to start the series according to other players I’ve asked.

I played God of War (2018) a few months ago without any more context than what is known about Kratos in the public eye. The 2018 remake does not tell you what Kratos did, but it shows you how it affects him. Flawlessly. This game nails the “show don’t tell” approach like so few do. If you like narrative driven games, or want a good modern story about a man trying to be a good father, or like well-designed action games, or like norse mythology, this game fucking rocks.

[–] ampersandrew@lemmy.world 1 points 6 months ago

It does tell you about some major stuff that Kratos did, especially about who he killed.

Really the first one on PS4 feels like a total new series compared to the first 3 games. Not saying the original 3 aren't worth playing, but they aren't all that necessary to this story.

[–] Shadowedcross@lemmy.world 6 points 6 months ago

As others have said, you don't need to play the old ones, and I doubt Sony will bring them to PC, so your best bet is probably emulation if you really wanna play them.

I think he meant God of War, not God of War.

[–] crabshark@sh.itjust.works 2 points 6 months ago (2 children)

Oh!

But Christopher Judge only did two games.

There’s the tie in tv series where he goes through the ring to kill the gods

I really liked the two most recent ones, though I only played a tiny bit of ragnarok at a friends place because im not about to buy a playstation. I tried the original after on emu and its just not my thing. new ones are more talky and just listening to mimir while going around which is the most important part. theres a huge gap between the old games and the newer two with a whole lot left unexplained and you fill in some of the blanks from the ingame dialogue.

if I had one major gripe, its the chapter where the kid has his rebellious phase or something and I recommend not backtracking for side goals untitl he becomes mentally stable again because the dialogue makes him seem really bipolar if you backtrack while he is being pissy. or just don't miss anything as you go.

edit: I meant to say something about how if you dont play the og games you kinda get the kids point of view where he doesnt really know anything about his dad's past. that and the beard saves the guy from looking like warpaint agent 47.

The things I like in the PS is that they still sell a disc edition, meaning that you can buy and sell games on the cheap.

But on the other hand PC games support mods and that's unbeatable. Plus PS games usually work on two generations only and then finito.

[–] NigelFrobisher@aussie.zone 5 points 6 months ago (2 children)

Guess the PS4 is the last PlayStation I buy then.

[–] BmeBenji@lemm.ee 8 points 6 months ago

I’ve managed to avoid spoilers this long for Spider-man 2. If Ragnarok is coming to PC then I’m pretty confident I can hold out until it comes to PC as well

[–] Swarfega@lemm.ee 6 points 6 months ago

I purchased the PS5 cause the library of games on the PS4 was amazing. Worst purchase I've made in a long time. There's been a real lack of games. The best game is Astro's Playground and that comes free!

[–] Lojcs@lemm.ee 3 points 6 months ago

Wishing for a god of War collection or something of the sort worth the older games

[–] Ioughttamow@kbin.run 2 points 6 months ago (1 children)

So, was Kratos the Prime of Ares?
