This is why you should use the 3DS hacks guide to add homebrew and pirate games before it's too late and becomes trickier. (I think one of them easiest ones used to require 3DS Store access for a demo that helped you install the Homebrew launcher)

I recently hacked a friend’s 3DS and if i recall correctly you dont need any games or other things to hack. You use the internet browser for the 3ds to open a page which exploits a vulnerability.

Yes, but for clarity, you've got to put a file on the sd card first. It can't be done purely on the 3ds or WiiU.

Are there new users, really?

I'm all about "companies should be required to make content they sold available as long as they exist" for the recent Sony deleting videos story, but online multiplayer takes meaningful maintenance for security reasons.

I'd support a requirement to open the protocols and provide the appropriate signatures to enable alternative replacements to fill in the voids if there's demand, but you couldn't really apply it retroactively and all the Nintendo stuff, up to and including the switch, is already hacked anyways, so it wouldn't make a practical difference.

I think they are talking about the "New 3Ds" which was the last version of 3DS they created

Now, in an update, it's been discovered that new users can't go online in any games on 3DS or Wii U

lol Nintendo and their naming, though.

Apparently they've since resolved the issue, though EOL for online is still early 24.
