It's purposeful. It's to force you to buy a new one.

A mouse with a normal charging cable placement can still be used by being plugged in when the battery goes dead.

This mouse, with the charging port on the bottom, becomes unusable once its battery goes dead.

No, it's because Apple hates it's customers and is happy to bilk them.

That said, they do make some very nice things, but participate in so much anti-consumer nonsense (not that that's any different from any other major corporation).

You’re correct! And also, to be thorough, all corporations hate their customers.

(Are the customers making the corps’s billionaires into trillionaires yet? How about now? STILL NO?!! Then we hateses them!)

Corps would absolutely prefer to chain up all humans and legally force us to buy all & every product with every cent we make. Apple is no different πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

I also heard the reasoning that this would make every photo on the Internet of the mouse being used cordless. That didn't really happen though

Are there really people who will buy a new mouse rather than charging it? How long does the charging take? Also, at that point, wouldn't they buy from any brand other than Apple?

Not dead as in currently uncharged, dead as in will no longer hold a charge (or holds a shitty charge)

unaware? no this is this way on purpose people would leave their mice constantly connected ruining the apple(tm) approved(tm) aesthetic(tm)

Looked it up, that's even worse than I thought. I interpreted "bottom" as the back where your wrist would be, which isn't ideal, but would be workable. But no, they mean straight up the bottom bottom where the sensor is, which didn't even occur to me because why would anyone ever do that

I remember seeing something years ago that it was to essentially force people to go wireless, as that was their aesthetic and what they wanted people to see when watching others using a Mac.

My port is in my bottom and I'm not complaining.

Actually, I'm lying, I consume biological energy through my mouth like any completely normal bipedal mammal without an abundance of body hair.

I have a Mac and have never used an apple brand mouse. I hate the one button thing and this bottom charging port is dumb. Why aren't people just buying a normal mouse?

The real Magic Mouse is the Logitech Powerplay. You'll never convince me otherwise.

I kinda like my MX master 2s. Bluetooth is not ideal, but this thing works on every surface imaginable and has some insane battery life. Note: the drawback of being micro USB is quite easy to fix
