The saltiness of the CoD devs says a lot about their culture to be honest. They say what Judge said was “inappropriate” but can’t look at themselves and the way they responded

"Imagine having short user engagement once your game is consumed. Can't relate," they said.

An adult really typed that out. Embarrassing.

[–] slaacaa@lemmy.world 23 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Ah yes, “consumed” and “engagement”, my favorite words as a costumer describing the games I enjoy playing.

[–] Tier1BuildABear@lemmy.world 11 points 11 months ago

That's all it is to them. They constantly shove shit down our throats, but some people still swallow.

The first was embarrassing too like claiming your McDonald's food is the best because it outsells my tri-tip.

Maybe games shouldn’t have a release every 1-2 years and try to milk players with useless micro transactions and gimmicks

[–] OminousOrange@lemmy.ca 7 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Until there's no financial incentive to do so, this will continue.

Yeah I haven’t bought a call off duty since the ww2 one, and before that the last one was black ops. I’m over them

When Teal'c calls you out, you listen.

Indeed.

Jesus christ I was wondering why the name sounded so familiar.

Wah. Stop putting up with crunch and make something artistic for once, instead of the next annual COD w/ season pass and BR mode.

I laughed when Chris Judge said that and he's damn right. Sales =/= good game unless you're a suit or investor, and surprise, I don't give a shit what someone who's probably never played a video game thinks makes a good game (it's not battlepasses, skinner boxes, and FOMO).

Maybe call of duty devs should focus less on what other people say and a little more on their gameplay.

[–] Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world 38 points 11 months ago

It's interesting that he never said the game was bad or that GoW was better or anything like that. But that's exactly how they took it.

If you can't handle the jokes and criticism that comes with making a shit game, then maybe don't shit out a shitty dlc in 18 months and sell it as its own standalone game with a full price tag? I think the game awards would be way more interesting and funny if a little more roasting happened towards the companies and games that deserve it

Maybe stop releasing a new fucking game every god damn year

[–] Immersive_Matthew@sh.itjust.works 8 points 11 months ago (1 children)

They will if people keep buying.

Do Call of Duty devs really not understand they are considered a joke?

[–] big_slap@lemmy.world 26 points 11 months ago

I hope he appears next year to dump on them again lol

[–] Paranomaly@sh.itjust.works 23 points 11 months ago

The fact that CoD had ads later in the show made it all the sweeter

[–] hoshikarakitaridia@sh.itjust.works 23 points 11 months ago

Ironic.

It's quite ironic when the biggest gaming event calls you out on a practice you are actively participating in and you can't just brush it off as easily.

Very good for this to get exposure. I hope they earn a shit storm for this.

We really live in an age of snowflakes. People can't just take one on the chin and move on, particularly when it's justified. And even feel the need to hit back making it even worse. Sad times.

Judge made a valid snarky comment.

[–] Irishred88@lemmy.world 7 points 11 months ago (1 children)

It's really a nasty habit too. It precludes any kind of reasonable, honest discussion. Criticism is too often conflated with insult.

[–] Lunar@lemmy.wtf 4 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

True. It's unfortunate. We're socially losing the ability to talk to each other effectively, without resorting to playing the victim, rejecting responsability and hitting back.

Two years ago Will Smith hit Chris Rock because of a joke, and everyone crucified him for that, but through words the developers are hitting back in a childish and rude way as well to Judge.

[–] steakmeout@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago

These complaints from the devs and publishers who thought up the F.*.G.S campaign read extremely hollow.
