Artbook piracy (lemmy.world)
submitted 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago) by NanitePhoton@lemmy.world to c/piracy@lemmy.dbzer0.com

I really really love artbooks especially anime artbooks, it is not a very obscure interest but these artbooks are relatively hard to find, does anyone know of really unknown communities to find anime artbooks? besides ofc all the anime public and private trackers cuz they r not enough for me I want really obscure communities cuz I have searched so so much and all the known ones don't have enough content

I found a whole bunch in a place I never thought to look: e-hentai.org Just look for the tag "artbook" and you already find a bunch. Or look for something more specific. Yes, you will have porn in between. Yes, its just the images without text embedded etc. But it's a decent source.

I know EH (also called sad panda) It also still lacks content lol, I have been really deep into this and know all of the common forums and trackers and it seems from my research that the best places for anime artbooks are some chinese forums I want to know tho if someone had been deeply searching like me, thank u tho

I had found a bunch of complimentary materials to what I was watching on rutracker-dot-org. It's not anime-oriented, but it can serve as a last place to search them.

Search results with a simple queue

ru tracker is actually very good but it rarely contains original content from what I have seen most content there is taken from other forums or trackers, I m talking about artbooks specifically

ExH, despite has same owner as E-H, has more content that not is available on E-H.

A lot of Chinese users also post their findings there.

[–] NanitePhoton@lemmy.world 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

it seems that ExH can't be accessed in a normal way tho, but seems that there are workarounds to access it

Login to E-H forum first, ExH use E-H forum cookies.

If it was still failed, try some helper browser extension.

I don't know where else you could look but the common E-Book & Audiobook places. So far many Books were not listed in the usual piracy sites. I had to search explicitly for the only Book/Comic/Audio Book related ones.

These sites however have TONS of Material in all kinds of categories. So even if there wouldnt be a "Artbook" Filter, if you look for a reocurring comic, make use of the reocurring name and hit the search with it.

You may have to check what are the best sites for your language though.

it is either english or japanese and the common ebook sites are so bad at this, the good places are the not very known communities, I actually checked japanese p2p websites and they still were also bad, thx for help tho

nyaa

.

si

Do a blank search under Pictures.

[–] NanitePhoton@lemmy.world 1 points 10 months ago

nyaa is very lacking, the best communities from what I have seen are Chinese communities like tsdm39 but it is painful to use

I just wanted to say that I love Rei.

the specific artbook of the picture you posted is available on archive.org with the title "evangelion material", you can download it separately with the torrent they provide. the internet archive actually has a pretty impressive artbook collection, though i actually found that specific file under a mirrored torrent on one of the dht search engines on the megathread, which are surprisingly helpful/extensive, though a lot of torrents (especially older ones) aren't being seeded, but it's a good start once you have the filename.

as for non-english forums, i've had luck with baidu search: you'll be mostly looking for pan.baidu links in animanga forums/sites (which may be hidden behing login walls, but most of the time you can use google's cache view), though you do need an account to download from them, which can be difficult to get depending on your location. one specific forum that seems to have a lot of content not available elsewhere is otomedream, but it's 1) very difficult to get in, i've been on the waitlist to get my account approved for like two months; and 2) requires you to use their currency to get dl links to the actual content. also worth checking out is vk and japanese+chinese torrent aggregators and book download sites, fmhy has some in their non-english section. in most of these, you'll have the most luck searching the original japanese title in quotation marks.

i can't personally attest for private trackers like bbt and ab, but i imagine it's worth checking out if you have an account.

I got the FLCL art book from somewhere. I'll try to remember and find my sources, but probably tomorrow since it's late here right now.

Have you tried /a/ or /c/ or /jp/ on the 4chan? Pretty sure those are blue boards so they're gonna be SFW. I think there was also an old site called kissmehentai which obviously is NSFW if that's what your looking for.

[–] NanitePhoton@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago (1 children)

yh 4chan is actually sometimes pretty good and no lol I m not looking for hentai I m only looking for anime artbooks, thx

[–] Crack0n7uesday@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago

You could also try the original 2chan if that site is still around but if I remember correctly it was like 100% in Japanese. I remember back in the 90's early 2000's they didn't speak much English on that site.

does anyone know of any Chinese or asian anime/art/manga forums? like forums which are not known to english speakers? for example tsdm39

[–] NanitePhoton@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago

I have tried searching on perfect dark but wasn't great

[–] Gradually_Adjusting@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I don't suppose you've checked Anna's archive. Probably so, just didn't see it mentioned by name.

[–] NanitePhoton@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago

I know zlib, annas archive, stc, sci-hub and irc lol but also they lack anime artbooks I m looking for super secret communities

[–] stonemilker@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 10 months ago

BakaBT is a private tracker that has lots of high quality anime/manga artbooks, soundtracks and extras like that. That's all I use aside from Nyaa, but my needs are pretty basic in general

[–] dangblingus@lemmy.dbzer0.com -2 points 10 months ago

Man, sexualizing Rei is so weird.
