Look at that, another impeachable offense! Let's add it to the pile

big pile of scrap metal

[–] Skullgrid@lemmy.world 20 points 5 days ago (2 children)

He's been impeached, twice.

[–] dhork@lemmy.world 12 points 5 days ago

Yes, but that hasn't stopped him

[–] Zedstrian@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Impeachments mean nothing without a conviction.

[–] Skullgrid@lemmy.world 8 points 5 days ago

yeah, that's my point

Wait, so he doesn't just want his name plastered everywhere, he also wants to collect royalities for the usage of his name? I must commend him for being this brazenly corrupt. It's a good litmus test for Democrats. If they refuse to prosecute Trump like the traitor that he is, they are not up to the task of pushing back MAGA, returning sanity to the US and healing the nation.

The Democrats already had four years to prosecute and convict this sack of shit. South Korea prosecuted and sentenced their former president in just 12 months. I don't expect anything from them this time around other than a PR slap on the wrist.

We need other parties but this country's elections are so fucked already we are only ever going to get two options of completely corporate-captured parties.

Hence the quote attributed to Emma Goldman

If voting changed anything, they'd make it illegal.

[–] Cavemanfreak@programming.dev 9 points 5 days ago

It's not like they are not trying though.

Your best bet, and that is tiny, but is still there, is to fill the Democratic party with Bernie Sanders-types and the like. AOC may run for president. She probably won't win, but she is a more progressive candidate than your typical centrist democrat. And it all started with her getting elected in New York. Talarico vs Crockett is the next opportunity to elect a more progressive candidate with Talarico.

Our best bet would be to collectly stop believing the lies of the DNC and start a new party that minimizes or forbids lobby from corporate goons.

But the capture of the two party system is very strong and any talk about that gets self-policed by well intentioned folks. The DNC propaganda is strong. I'm all for minimizing harm in the moment, but the harm of the status quo is building to many many decades of past "we have to vote DNC one more time" moments. And with climate catastrophy here already what harm are we minimizing? If there isn't a future for our descendants due to corporate-caused climate change catastrophe, then what are we even fighting for?

The Democrats already had four years to prosecute and convict this sack of shit

The Democrats would require a two-thirds supermajority in the Senate to convict without at least some Republican senators. They have not had that and are unlikely to get that.

Its because he's just been sticking his name and plated gold onto crap for decades. His brand is all he has, but someone doesn't seem to realise how radioactive it is.

Like hell am I, a european, flying into DJT. I'd rather fly through JFK and catch clap from a toilet seat.

[–] Quacksalber@sh.itjust.works 1 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Watch him mandate that all intercontinental flights must go through DJT.

[–] greyscale@lemmy.sdf.org 3 points 5 days ago

I mean, in reality I wont be flying to the US until some major reforms are made, shits wack and dangerous as fuck.

For many now, mentally, the united states is in the same bucket as casual travel to russia, somalia or north korea.

I name my shits after trump every single day.

[–] itsmistermoon@piefed.social 21 points 5 days ago

I’m inaugurating a new Trump right now

[–] ThePantser@sh.itjust.works 9 points 5 days ago

Taking a triumphant trump right now.

[–] HootinNHollerin@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

I got a double flusher trump over here

[–] Soulphite@reddthat.com 2 points 5 days ago

Ah yes, the king trump. Mightiest of trumps.

[–] A_norny_mousse@piefed.zip 1 points 5 days ago

Hey, you wouldn't pirate a Trump!

[–] A_norny_mousse@piefed.zip 2 points 5 days ago (1 children)

He should trademark his ability to put more and more taxpayer money into his personal coffers.

I also want to see DJT and Donald J. Trump International Airport graffitied everywhere now, just to fuck with him. Mentions in songs and of course social media.

[–] A_norny_mousse@piefed.zip 2 points 5 days ago

Ah, 2016. Those were the days. It was all new and fresh and we never thought the USA would get to this point. The troll of yore is a dicktater now.

[–] HobbitFoot@thelemmy.club 1 points 5 days ago

Looks like he is getting Palm Beach Airport, which is fitting.

[–] blimthepixie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Do you reckon he thinks that there are imnectarines as well?

[–] schnurrito@discuss.tchncs.de 4 points 5 days ago (1 children)
[–] jdr@lemmy.ml 2 points 5 days ago (1 children)

It's a joke about impeachment

[–] schnurrito@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 5 days ago (1 children)

ah, I guess my non-natively English-speaking brain didn't catch that

[–] jdr@lemmy.ml 0 points 5 days ago

It's cool, my brain doesn't speak either
