Misinformation. Totally false. The barest possible technicality that this is happening and Trump is President, yes. But this is not his work.

  • The Circulating Collectible Coin Redesign Act of 2020 was primarily the work of Representative Barbara Lee (D-CA). But it was a bipartisan bill
  • The creator of the coin intended it to represent the colonies in the revolution, i.e. yes, a time of war.
  • The final design was approved in 2024 - so if anyone "did" it, it would be Biden
  • In place of the olive branch, the bald eagle is in flight clutching arrows in its talons, with one talon left empty. The empty talon is meant to signify that the colonists were waiting for a peace they had not yet reached.

I hope someone will verify what I've said is true and pass it back to the source to let more people know. There's plenty of things wrong - this is not one of them.

If that is what the redesign is about, the meaning placed on it is so wildly contradictory to the imagery. They DID get peace. That's why we have a nation. The idea pushed with this, that the eagle shouldn't have an olive branch because we haven't achieved peace yet is just false. We did. Then we didn't like it, and threw it away.

If you want to make symbolic imagery describing our nation, just make the eagle eat the liver of a small child tied to a rock. Still referencing Greek/roman myths but is more accurate to our way of life.

God, they are so dumb.

I love it though how the Eagle is now looking at its empty claw like: "WTF?!?"

It's a nice symbol for the state the US and lots of its people are currently in.

What's sad is that the obverse of the 250th dime is probably the best of the redesigns. For the first time since 1946, we'd have a circulating coin with an idealized figure of Goddess Liberty instead of a dead politician.

The typography is atrocious though. And the lack of a cohesive design language sucks. The Charles III coinage from the UK are so much better as a thematic set.

Had to check if it was April 1st already.
