It's incredibly easy to even accidentally cause an invasive animal explosion. Many invasive species stories have been caused by a few stray pets, a single crate of animals, or several of them getting loose from a zoo.

Oh, it's Nutria. Those beaver-lookin' rodents have been a pest here in the East since the late 19th C. Some ding-dong thought to raise them for fur, the market for it never really appeared, and a lot of the buggers escaped or were let go by bankrupt nutriaherders. Someone else tried apparently to start a fur trade out West, and...
