I wonder what it will be like. GW was always kinda 'meh' to me (except when there was platforming like there was for some collectible or something in GW2 which could fuck right off). I hope it works out well, though.

Guild Peace when?
Several thousand hours in gw2. Really liked it.
I hope they keep the stuff I liked. Solo friendly but other people are around to casually join up or whatever. No level grinding. No gear grind.
Maybe a little less storage management, though.
how else are they going to sell more inventory slots? :D
Truly that the core, if you look stuck or having an hard time, passing people often help.
GW1 and 2 are the only MMOs that don’t give me social anxiety, one of the best gaming communities there is.
When GW2 came out, lots of GW1 fans didnt really connect with it.
Hope we GW2 fans are not gonna feel the same about GW3.
But even if GW3 was not made for GW2 audience, we are still getting another one.
Both current GW games are different and good.
I got GW2 for my brother and I and we played it for a week straight and then realized it wasn't for us
I know there are a lot of gw2 fans out there but to me that game is nothing like gw1 except the things that aren't gameplay (ie: lore, races, etc)
I played GW1 as a young kid and then was very much into GW2 for a long time. It's probably the game I spent easily the most time of my life with. The past few years I dropped it because I felt like the quality dropped and also they focused on the wrong stuff (for me). But it still is a nice game and I like to look into it from time to time.
I've been waiting for GW3 for some time actually, the promise of the story has me hyped a bit, but yeah, the action-based combat puts me off a bit. We'll have to see.
But in a 2nd video they released yesterday, they told people that they will continue to support and develop for all 3 games going forward. So people who like GW2, but not GW3 are eventually saved :D
Of course arenanet are in the best position to make a new mmo, I can't wait. Gw2 made me get into illustration.
I can see why. The loading/travel screen art blew me away on release and still does now.
I don't often get my hopes up for new games any more, but I kinda have for this.
Now I'm curious to try GW2. Never played this franchise.
It’s the only MMO I’ve ever played through the full story of and maxed out more than one character in because it was just fun to play and explore. It’s one of the best the genre has to offer, and the community is a joy.
Highly suggest it. No need to rush into purchase. Try out the base game, explore, enjoy it. Endgame all classes can do basically everything, so finding one that clicks for you is more important than wanting to play "a healer" or etc. Unless you are trying to do the ultra sweaty Legendary Challenge Mode raid bosses you can complete everything using mostly whatever so meta isn't a big deal. (Maybe high end fractal CMs and PvP/WvW things matter a bit idk.)
If you're into story, there is a LOT behind the living season stuff, which was free if you played while it released but otherwise I think they bundle it all (and pretty sure like EVERYTHING is on sale, its $50 for the 1st 3 expacs and the living story stuff on their site, I think thats $5 cheaper than on steam.)
Do note: If you buy on steam, you've gotta buy all the stuff through steam. If you buy through arenanet's website, you can't purchase upgrade through steam. (If you're on linux/steamdeck you can download and run it through steam with a startup command to use anet's launcher to sign in normally if you go through anet instead of steam so either way it works.)
Fashion Wars 3!? In this economy?
I'm cautiously optimistic about this one. I loved GW2, even though I haven't kept up with it in a while, so I'm interested to see what they are planning for the sequel. Orr also seems like a fun setting. I live the descriptions in GW2 of Orr pre-sinking. (Also, the gods (presumably) saying "we promise you magic" is funny, considering how horribly that ends in this case.)
However, GW2 is dripping in style, and I love the painterly style it has. I'm not seeing that same style in this trailer. It looks kinda generic, tbh. (The design of the mount is stellar, though.)
Also, being set in the past means that the Sylvari don't exist yet, and the Charr are still the "great enemy", so those two are out. We seem to have gained Kodan as a playable race, though (probably means no Norn as well, since they would have quite a bit of overlap). Also, this seemed like the perfect chance to give the people the Tengu they have wanted, but playable Tengu remains a dream, it seems.
GW1 hands down is one of the most creative online RPGs
GW2 has nothing of what made guildwars fun for me
hopefully GW3 is a mix of both ? open world MMO with the skills system of GW1
The gw1 skill system would be wild in a new game!
I hope the combat has stronger identity in this one. Really love GW2 but the combat felt very flimsy and each identity seems like tried to be different from usual rpg roles and never had a solid identity that felt as good as classic roles.
I'm excited for this but really upset that the beta is in FALL OF 2027...
And like most mmo launches, it’s really just an EA launch with the real content to be reworked and added later.
I look forward to playing 5 years after release once ANET has changed their mind about core design choices a few times, fluctuated between unique classes and homogenization, and exhaust their thesaurus to be different than other MMOs. I know that sounds sarcastic, but I really do like GW2. I actually have it open on the other monitor right now- I'm in Mistlock smelting mithril ingots. I'm not sure why ANET has such a difficult time sticking to design choices, but eventually it seems to work out.
Oh damn??? Looks like MMORPGs aren't dead after all. I would have loved to see some gameplay but it's nice knowing there's an honest to god new mmo being made by a big studio.
Sure hope they're not dead, FF XIV is thriving!
Same with gw2 and wow but we're talking 21, 16, and 14 year old games here lol, every "major" new MMO since those 3 has died... it's not exactly inaccurate to call the genre dead.
Shout-out the return of Gloria Victis next week too, best pvp MMO I've ever played, the sieges are insane.
Wow. Pretty excited to see this. I loved GW2 a lot.
Would be nice if they can make a good mmo. Feels like the genre has died off.
I was thinking about this other day. I genuinely think it’s because of how we interact with the genre that has largely killed it. Everything is min maxed to no end and almost everything is essentially a chore to meet that goal. The genre use to be fun to just play around in and be social but it has really lost its touch. I’d be so happy to see a revitalization in the space.
I mean, gw2 kinda sounds like what you want? Like it’s pretty chill, no need to continuously grind, hit max level and that’s it. Anything new added is account progression, and even then most of it isn’t important outside of that expansion’s story or to get better rewards from the maps for that expac or etc, save for a few masteries needed for a few specific raid encounters, and some that get double introduced (like mounts that are introduced in one expac and featured heavily in another) give a bonus if you have both which is cool but not necessary. Like 14 years of content so there is plenty to do, and today they said they’re commited to 15 more years, and while they’re pausing the next expansion for gw3 to get released, they are going back to base game to fix up a lot of stuff to make it better (and even adding physics based rendering)
It’s a game I can stop playing for months, come back and keep enjoying without needing to learn something new (unless a balance patch really fucked you up) or unlock new stuff or get new gear just to be able to play.
Plus WvW (bigass siege style PvP) is a pretty cool game mode and they’re developing a new map for that finally which can be a pretty chill PvP mode.
I guess my point is also why I am stoked for GW3, Anet has learned a lot and I don’t think I could be bothered to play an MMO not made by them at this point.
I've never really played any GW games, but a honest to goodness new MMO from a experienced studio is exciting! For so long the genre have been awash with kickstarter scams like Ashes of Creation or multiple Ultimas, it's encouraging to have some hope.
