Not really. It used a series of photos of the lead programmer's brother(???) Walking, running, jumping etc, which were used to create the character sprites. Very rudimentary. But it worked.

Is it strange that the first Prince of Persia was acclaimed for its realism and use of rudimentary motion capture?

30 years later, we have this.

NHTSA references several SAE standards in their regulations, but they don't update the references very often, if ever. Many of the referenced standards date back to versions from the '70s and '80s. Back around 2012 I contacted SAE to find out if they provided a package of standards incorporated by reference in NHTSA regulations. I was told they don't provide such a package, and they couldn't even sell me the individual standards I needed because they were "out of date". My only option through SAE was to buy the latest version.

Shortly afterwards Public.Resource.Org posted the standards, and I copied them. But I thought they had lost their court case.

Nice to find out I was wrong.

I started just looking at Everything, and blocking the groups I'm not interested in.

The original story was similar: PLA is made from corn, and is completely biodegradable.

Interested people took various parts made from PLA and put them outside for a while. Some people buried them. Some people put them in their compost pile or canisters. I think the only result was some discoloration and possibly some reduced strength.

So now it seems PLA only biodegrades under industrial conditions, requiring elevated temperatures.

People with 3D printers will remember how we were lied to about PLA's biodegradability.
