That's a good solution. Keeps the all feed clear of threads content while allowing users to opt in

Its relevant because it's a racist forum and he got owned by a black guy.
No that's different because hexbear and exploding heads posts and users will show up in our feeds and users have to block. Now that lemmy has instance blocking on an individual level there is much more room for federation.
Threads content won't show up in your feed unless you go out of your way to follow a threads user. All defederating does is deny your users the benefits of activity pub. If twitter is anything to go by then Threads content will be on this platform through screenshots anyway.
In my first few weeks of linux I screwed up mounting a hard drive and my pc wouldn't boot past grub. 4x different times I tried and each time I broke it. Then a year later I revisted mounting the drive and it went smoothly.
Its supposed to release early next year but if you're on the stable channel it might be a little bit more of a wait. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but when its released and you run your system update, cinnamon will be updated.
The nobara tweaks and configuration can be done on fedora but op is unlikely to know what they are or how to do them. If I remember correctly there's quite a few important gaming things that fedora doesn't ship with but I don't know what they are cause I loaded fedora then switched to nobara after a few hours.
Maybe pop os is a good choice since it's a mix of gaming related and beginner friendly.
I hate suggesting another distro as a solution but if your main intention is gaming then you may be interested in nobara. It's fedora but with gaming tweaks applied.
Compared to you who has so much experience with threads joining the fediverse.
They aren't barging in. You need to follow the threads user. Only on mastodon are they "barging in".
That doesn't make sense. If Google was making xmpp worse then the servers could just defederate. At this moment threads has not done anything to warrant defederation.
