Implying Lemmy is the best/only place to get political news. :/

Some of us come here for fun and get our doom elsewhere.

As opposed to software distributed by CD tied to an African swallow?

Jokes aside. Backing up data to a software owned by a Chinese, American or Swiss company would have different implications. Different laws apply on how the government can access and use that data.

This just hit me.

How long until governments create email accounts or digital identities (I mean they already have the latter). Then they force social media platforms (who n turn force users) to use/link that as age verification and content blocking.

So true. Unfortunately both men rarely talk about feelings and were more or less forced by circumstance to seek help for mental health.

They already hated the idea and now hate it more. When they have some sort of future relapse they'll be be even more closed off to seeking help.

Sucks.

Uncle in therapy for second nervous breakdown. Therapist tells aunt that hell be a dead weight aroind her neck. Tells him to go fishing - he hates fishing. This was a recommended therapist from a good GP.

Another family member with past addiction and suicide attempts went to a different GP seeking therapy. Was told by the GP humans have been to the moon and can do anything so stop being so depressed. Wtf does that even mean.

Shitty people are in every profession.

So. What android apps and extensions are still best? Dantotsu with extensions seems hit and miss. Probably due to these takedowns.

I'm trying to find a simple way to keep track of movie releases that I'm interested in. Is there an app or website where I can just type in the movie name and get notified when it's available?

I've seen some posts mentioning setting up RSS feeds, but that seems a bit complicated for what I need. Ideally, I want something where I can just hit "get notified" and then receive an email or notification when the movie is released.

Any recommendations? Thanks!

(Not just when they are released in cinema but as 1080 or 4k)

Question is title.

In the past I've installed many distros on many older PCs, but never used linux properly (although slowly moving over to avoid win11). I've also had a heap of history with windows installs.

A family member has been testing Mint on an old laptop and is going well. This is a trial run before I update their iMac laptop (not sure what one but no longer supposed by OS updates).

I've never booted to an iMac BIOS or installed over top of apple.

  • Is this going to be like installing over windows?
  • What issues can I expect?
  • Should I consider another distro?
