I never thought it would bother me, until I actually sat in a car where everything was dependent on software the first time.

At first I thought I was just getting old. But it dawned on me that relying on software to fucking roll down the windows or starting the car doesn't feel too good.

(It was also an extreme jump in technology for me because the last car I drove before that was an old Corsa around the year ~2005.)

It's an excuse for people to go on sexist and misogynistic rants.

There sadly are even more countries that are completely under control of religious leaders. Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Iran, Afghanistan, .... Vatican City (they even have something like their own military).

They exploited the communication feature and are basically acting as one huge server wide guild of jobless arseholes having nothing better to do than ruining the fun for everyone else all day long.

?? When the cheaters are simply waved through the courses as well, some of them will definitely achieve a CS degree as well. They will simply have put in less work and be less well educated.

But in my experience people who cheat do so repeatedly, in multiple courses, their bachelor thesis, in exams when there is a way, ...

I actually see it as a good opportunity to teach them that means matter. By kicking cheaters out of the course.

It's usually some rant about "brains are just probability machines as well" or "every artists learns from thousands of pictures of other artists, just as image generator xy does".

What's the carrot for being honest then?

If you give cheaters too many chances, the other students will feel betrayed. And I guess rightly so.

It's not uncommon to get mails directly, or later in course evaluation, from students who complain about other students that didn't put in the work. I can only remember few cases where there were names involved. Typically it's some general complaint, but the frustration is obvious.

It sucks when you make an effort but witness other students cheating their way through the class. What are we supposed to tell them when the dishonest behaviour of other students doesn't cause any consequences?

I've often seen people on Lemmy confidently state that current "AI" thinks and learns exactly like humans and that LLMs work exactly like human brains, etc.

What is "too far" though? Is raising your children to follow specific religious rules already too far? Because I think it is, but many others think that's okay. What about expecting your surroundings to accommodate your religion? At what point exactly is that going too far?

EA allows people to create games who normally wouldn't have the money to do it.
