See, all I can imagine is a big iPad on wheels.

Started with the pod, then made a slightly larger screen and turned it into a phone, then made it even bigger and turned it into a tablet…now make it into a car.

Hey! You using my fetish as a synonym for “unenjoyable and bad punishment” is not cool.

Because companies realize that giving us shit things will make us hand over more money and, with our hands bound behind our back, on our knees, bleeding from the lip, we’ll ask for another slap with lust in our voices?

And it’s a pretty massive audience. This could officially be the end of Netflix as a movie powerhouse, but it isn’t a bad business strategy. Especially with how much they’re raking in from people paying for ads on top of the advertising dollars they’re earning from running them in the first place. They’re phasing out the cheapest ad free option. It’s a big gamble. And, honestly? Fuck ‘em if it doesn’t work. I mean, fuck ‘em if it does work too. I know I don’t personally give a shit about wrestling. (I don’t give a shit about their profits either. They’re not getting my booty. Yo-ho.)

Yeah…I mean, if you cloned Trump’s voice? And actually made it interact with the people? You could suppress the fascist vote by about 75%

But why continue to rely on a system of profit that is being run like a mob, being split into distinct territories where “free market capitalism” can’t even allow us to not get gouged by profit seekers? Why not generate our own power? Why not 100% renewables? Like I said, why bring radioactive materials into this? For that matter, why bring capitalism into it?

Yeah, nuclear has been available and in use over the period of the sharpest increase in co2 emissions. It’s not responsible for it, but it’s not the answer. The average person can’t harness nuclear energy. But all the renewable energies in the world can fit on a small house: wind, solar, hydro. Why bring radioactive materials into this?

If companies haven’t collectively made it abundantly clear that they don’t give a shit about you, don’t give a shit about the employees, don’t give a shit if you’re satisfied, don’t give a shit if the product lived up to its promise…well, I dunno what else they can do. It’s all about profits. They outsourced manufacturing. Then they outsourced customer service. Because profits. It’s not that they think anything less about people in developing countries. They just think profit. And it’s more profitable to ship supplies halfway across the world in order to ship finished products back across the world because the cost of labor is that much cheaper.

And now they’re getting free labor from a chatbot? Pure profit.

Well, I, one of those people who would be replaced by said robots, am all for it. Fuck work. Buuut, without some other kind of economic system in place, we will be cut off from the food and water and housing trades pretty goddamn quick. Capitalism and leisure don’t go hand in hand. Capitalism and human and/or animal and/or plant life don’t go hand in hand. In short, capitalism is incompatible with life. Period. It’s a system of death that runs on the idea that if you exploit someone to the point of nearly starving, you’ll win more. If you can exploit people all down the chain to the point that they make next to nothing, you’ll win capitalism.

The system is so short sighted that they are trying to cut costs no matter what, while still actively fighting anything that makes life remotely livable for, yknow, the people. That line go up, all is right with world.

I wonder how many people will die before they start seeing a dent in their bottom line and start beating their head against the “we need to tax the people (not our businesses) so you can pay the people (that have no work and no money) so they can make my business profit!” wall before they actually give in to increasing their own taxes…so with that excess profit, people can hand it back to them in purchases?

I dunno, but there’s no way I see capitalism and no work ever coexisting. It just doesn’t make sense. Not to mention “they” would never allow it because they hoard more and more and we all starve.

Yeah, but I found there are telltale AI signs in the fake ones.

But you’re absolutely right. They made it harder by editing the real faces to make them look fake anyway.

I think we’re from the same day. I’m pretty goddamn glad, honestly. I’ve seen how much the phone has invaded my life, and I’m on the lowest scale of intrusion. I typically find myself out with a group of people all on their phones. It feels weird and gross. I could see how that constant attachment could be such a problem for teachers today, even if they were banned. It’s almost automatic, when someone gets bored or distracted, their hand is already in their pocket pulling out the phone.

We had texting, but the smart phone was invented the year I graduated high school. So really even my college years weren’t really tainted by constant phone use. We were really lucky for that reason, I hink.
