So these days I use LVMRAID instead of mdraid. Underneath it uses mdraid but it's a bit easier to use since it's self-contained in LVM.

If you're already using an Android phone with Play Store on it, the additional exposure through the Chromecast is probably not significant. Otherwise, in addition to the other suggestions, you could grab an Android capable board from HardKernel for example and run plain Android TV on it. For example the ODROID-C4. It's got nearly identical hardware to the CCwGTV. The setup is obviously more elaborate.

Yeah, also I don't run the latest version of the app in order to avoid breakage. I pin some tag so the app version so there shouldn't be a significant version mismatch during restore. I think @Esquero's suggestion to also dump the db just in case makes sense too. I'm gonna be writing a backup script / systemd unit anyways, might as well as a couple of lines for that.

Imagine being able to turn on automatic updates and nothing breaking or requiring rollback. That's Debian Stable. 🫠

To answer my own Q, yes, anything shared by others with you isn't in the takeout backup. You have to go to each such album and do Download All. Then you can import it with immich-go with the correct album name. If you already have that album, it will just add the missing content to it.

Well, we know their model is dead if they go public. If they remain private, they could still die but it's less certain. 🥹

Could you elaborate, what shared albums? Shared with you? Are you referring to this problem?

I wonder if this is worth doing even if I import with immich-go which seems to combine this data too.
