I think it is worth noting, dma desing became rockstar north, it isn't a separate studio. The same Lezlie Benzies wrote the story for all of them. Still, I'm pretty sure he left some time ago, same with Lazlow. I still have high hopes for GTA VI though.

Thing is, before battleye, gta online worked perfectly. I played it for years on every remotely popular linux distro, from debian, to ubuntu, linux mint, fedora etc. It's just the fucking anticheat.

Something that surprises me is that no one mentioned just running debian 12 with lxde. Though, I don't reccomend using the netinstall, as the user created there won't be part of the sudo group. You should use the live iso.

Lubuntu is based on Ubuntu, which is based on Debian. It meets all of your requirements, and has never crashed on me in my 2.5 years of using it, except when running kde, but that's probably kde's fault.

https://cdimage.debian.org/debian-cd/current-live/amd64/iso-hybrid/debian-live-12.9.0-amd64-lxde.iso

If you don't trust my link (fair enough, don't click links from strangers), the iso can be downloaded by going to debian.org, clicking "other downloads" under the big "download" button, locating the live isos, in the "Try Debian live before installing" clicking "other live iso", and finding the lxde iso.

Antix linux would also work great, and DSL is based on it.

From my personal experience, ubuntu (lts or not), has a tendency of nuking itself randomly. It's happened more than one time to me, to shit off my PC, eat something, return to a broken installation that doesn't boot. And I've got plenty of experience with fedora just not doing things, like mtp, vulkan on flatpaks, I've had it crash on login (on x11), and had gnome apps constantly crashing (on wayland). Currently, I'm using debian, and I've never had any issues with it, other than outdated packages, which is relatively minor
