When you've hopped between all the major branches of linux you kinda realise they're all the same thing with different package managers anyway

That said you can pry NixOS out of my cold dead hands

Dude knows what he likes

Back when I was attempting to use Ubuntu installing steam managed to break my entire display manager

Nix is far, far better for that reason

Having recently switched to Linux last year or so, I run into many more issues than I used to on windows

Granted I'm not exactly using what you'd call standard configuration, but it's still jankier

That said, at least for the most part when something goes wrong I know what has gone wrong and how to fix it now

I'm on NixOS so no yast, I've tried installing the one that supposedly worked for a p50

It rings a bell

I managed to get it working on Ubuntu once and then never again

I think I might've screwed it up by trying to get it working dual booted

I've actually had a few issues with Linux on my ThinkPad, have struggled endlessly with the fingerprint reader and Nvidia on Wayland is a bit of a pain still

I love the idea of framework but they're so expensive for the hardware you get

I get why that is and I will surely at some point end up with one but might wait til they're more readily available second hand

I hear a lot about the t480, how does it hold up compared to a p50?

You don't get the same experience installing on low end hardware or in a VM though

I didn't properly get hooked until I bit the bullet and just installed it bare metal on a higher end laptop and gaming PC

I've definitely found tmux to have alleviated much of the need for tiling, but I like being able to open a browser and have it instantly split screen itself with my terminal

Having multiple workspaces is also good for the way my brain works in that I can have a number of things on the go and flick between them as the dopamine dictates
