Basically we were in the process of having a discussion about defederating them, and then they blocked us before we could have a vote in c/Agora.

So it seemed like the problem was solved. But the fact that they don't appear on our blocklist has been misleading to others, so I think it's better to make it official.

For the record, I just added hexbear to the sjw blocklist.

They use an allowlist and they previously removed us from it, so we were effectively defederated already for most of the past year. But it seems that they may have refederated with us silently within the past couple weeks. I'm not exactly sure.

Anyway, I've heard this rumor about us still being federated with hexbear a few times, so I decided to clarify the situation.

You'll have to message the community mods for clarification. They're the ones who created and maintain the community, so they get to decide who gets banned and why.

Getting banned for a comment in another community is certainly possible, depending on what you said. I don't necessarily agree with that moderation style and it doesn't represent most communities on SJW, but that particular community tends to attract some heavy trolling, so I can understand if they're a bit trigger-happy on the ban hammer.

I just looked at your modlog history and it could be for multiple reasons. You have used some offensive language in the past. That probably has something to do with it.

Which community?

I'm on Lemmy all the time and I didn't know that community. But thanks for sharing, this is what I'm talking about.

Tbf you're on Lemmy 24/7 so you'll hear about things much earlier than many others. I've also been on Piefed for a minute.

But I've come to understand how slowly knowledge propagates through large numbers of people, at least via this medium. First with the APIcaplyse, when I realized that virtually nobody on reddit had even heard of the API changes, let alone moving to Lemmy. And then on Lemmy itself with various major events/dramas that people were totally unaware of until much later.

Piefed is developing rapidly and seems like a worthy alternative to Lemmy and Mbin. The private voting feature is also really cool.

French catheter

It doesn't need to be the answer. It just needs to be an answer for certain use cases. Both platforms can easily coexist. That's the beauty of federation.

Yes

Looks pretty good though I never played.

No, it's just a surgeon who lacks personality and operates with cold detachment.

This sounds like something Lemmy would also really benefit from.

Why This Award-Winning Piece of AI Art Can’t Be Copyrighted::Matthew Allen’s AI art won first prize at the Colorado State Fair. But the US government has ruled it can’t be copyrighted because it’s too much “machine” and not enough “human.”

Don't mean to get in the middle of the Dieselpunk challenge but I figured the people here might want to take a shot at creating a banner as well. I'm going to leave that thread open for at least a week so you guys should have time.

Please post your best submissions to the Agora thread linked above

I will try to scan both threads to get all of the candidates before we vote, but the Agora thread is the official discussion, this was just cross-posted for awareness.

The two obvious themes in my mind are gears/some sort of complex machine, or computer hardware/circuits.

As an avid Lain Iwakura enjoyer, I added that screenshot because it's awesome and I think it'd be an extremely cool banner, but there are probably much cleaner designs out there that would be more welcoming to new users. I'm sure you guys will be able to come up with some in short order.

You can look on lemmyverse.net to get a quick overview of some other instance banners.

I really don’t know how the formatting and proportions are supposed to work but I will edit that in as soon as someone clarifies.

Lemmy.world looks like this

This discussion run for at least a week, and then we can take the most upvoted submissions in this thread and put them up for an official vote.
