You could never really build a better PC for the same price, consoles were always $300 to $400 cheaper than the equivalent PC at launch by design. Pre gen4 consoles really had to compete with Arcades and gen4 to gen 6 really only had to compete with each other. Gen 6 and after now have strong competition from PC and mobile.

PC suffered from a lack of eco system, cost, and complexity. Consoles were sold at a loss at launch because the software was tied to the proprietary hardware and they could make their money back by offering exclusive games and pay to play online.

Now consoles are just under powered custom PCs and Steam/GOG have built eco systems for PC to make PC gaming more friendly and now Steam is building hardware to make PC gaming more affordable. Plus with cloud gaming everyone can stream just about any game no matter what hardware they have.

Nintendo will probably hang on the longest with their unique hardware and IPs that will never ever get ported to another system, at least not until Nintendo no longer builds their own hardware.

AI and Cloud gaming will probably be the biggest thing to revolutionize the gaming industry and probably the most destructive since Atari over saturated the market. At least in the short term.

So Sony said something similar about milking it's current customer base more by charging more for services/software and not really offering anything new in return. Console gaming maybe dead or at least the next generation will most likely be the last.

I don't see consoles surviving for much long with so many things working against them like AI, cloud services, mobile offerings, PC alternatives, and increasing hardware costs.

Also if AI can predict what I'm going to do and do it for me then what if that's not what I was going to do. It would suck the joy out of actually doing the things. Single player games probably don't matter as much but feel like it would ruin PVP like overly aggressive aim assist.

I've been thinking of canceling PS+ anyway. I've had it since PS3, but I don't play on PS5 much anymore and the only reason I've kept it is my son occasionally plays the PS5.

Sony just gave me a good reason to cancel.

So applicants are being sorted by browser? How does that indicate adaptability? So if they use Netscape are they too old or too stubborn or too niche for the job? I use Chrome at work and another browser at home, does that mean I get moved to the top of the application list?

I would think some more interesting data points would be what OS were they on or how quickly and accurately they filled out the application or if their resume rambles on with no substance or if they haphazardly used buzz words or look for signs that they didn't create their own resume.

That's ridiculous and doesn't suggest anything other than that's their preferred browser. That's just data to be collected for statistics and shouldn't even be relevant. I'm interviewing the person, not their data, their data could influence if they get an interview if there's actually something interesting in the data, but the browser just seems very odd thing to focus on.

It's worse than you think, AI did the screening interview. I would have run from this company, if they're willing to use AI to conduct an interview then they are going to treat you like crap if they hire you. They basically just let you know that you weren't even worth interacting with by a human. Screw that place.

So we can all line up to throw garbage at them? You know, return the favor.

If Linux could run AutoCAD and didn't have issues with anti cheat programs then I probably would have fully committed to the switch.

Before any says anything, yes I know there are CAD alternatives but all of my custom tools only work in AutoCAD and I have no idea how to recreate half of them if I had to and I wouldn't know how to do it in another app anyway. Plus AutoCAD is the industry standard so for compatibility reasons, I'm locked in.

I would say that it's as simple as adding a prompt during initial user setup with check boxes. Would you like windows to handle XYZ for you? Instead of assuming all users just want to use their computers to become influencers and forcing frustrating problems onto everyone.

It may have started out with "hey we are doing this for your own good" to now it's "how can we exploit ignorance and data mine our users and put ads on the desktop?"

The thing that's driving me away from windows is how pushy it's gotten. Forced updates, ads, AI, OneDrive, and subscriptions. I just want to be able to turn on MY computer and do what I want or need without having my guard up that I can't trust my home PC with my privacy.

Windows 11 is ok, but is frustrating to use and I can't trust it not to screw with settings and there seems to be something annoying added instead of something useful with every update. I also hate the Settings menu, it's like an unhelpful layer between you and Control Panel the eventually will take you to the same place but took 5 more clicks and searching through drop downs for a link to what you needed.

It's optimized for gaming and you can install a lot of standard Linux apps. But it only works on specific hardware like the Deck and Legion at the moment, the Frame and Machine should be running their versions. A lot of things that come in a standard Distro for PCs have been removed that you might take for granted. I like to think of it as a balance between PC and game console, remember when you could side load Linux onto a PS3, sort of like that.

I use my Deck in desktop mode and connect it to my TV for web browsing, Steamlink to my tower and occasionally use the Libre apps, but I wouldn't recommend using it as your daily PC. It doesn't exactly feel like a fully fleshed out PC, hard to put a finger on it until you use it.

Listen to sports commentators out of context. Sounds pretty gay to me

Only available for phones you've never heard of or phones no one bought. Like Volla or Pine or Fair, and very specific versions.
