Conover’s rant about the Patagonia founder’s billion dollar donation to avoid taxes and set his kids up is really good too.

I didn’t say it’s impending. The doom is what’s impending from the rise of fascism. You’re right though, things are already fucked badly. I’m just voting to keep democracy around long enough to grave a shot at fixing it someday for my child.

There are days when it feels like arms are going to be the only way out and that’ll be a fucking nightmare that will ruin millions more lives.

The impending doom of the fascist right is the only thing keeping me voting for the dems. If we had rank choice I’d be so much happier voting every election.

Don’t forget the retirees that rely on the stock prices dividend payouts in their 401ks.

Those IRAs and 401ks that are the only alternative after states and corps plundered all the pension systems to buy those politicians.

Just before our yearly subscription ends. I’m busy ripping and saving what we like for the next month and finally canceling prime this year, this is just the added motivation to remember how much it sucks.

Specifically its co-creator was Jeff Atwood, who is also the writer of coding horror and recently posted a pretty good endorsement of Mastadon and other non-twitter services.

He was actually one of only a dozen or so people I followed on very early twitter, before losing interest in the bullshit on there by 2010 or so and moving to Reddit.

They’re going to get more useful data from users they know everything about (threads users) interacting with us, than just scraping with an instance.

GenXer here. I’m not tech illiterate, except when it comes to social media. Then it’s more of a Luddite thing, because in 2007-8, I worked with early Facebook APIs (graph bullshit) and developed a deep hatred for Zuckerberg and his shitty website.

I think the nerdy Gen X are a lot more technical than the nerdy Zoomers because we had to know more to use early PCs as kids. But it also meant a lot of us didn’t get into it until a bit later in life (or to make a Buck before the various don’ dot-com bubbles burst).

Especially if your having “fun” with it.

Hey, only if it doesn’t conflict with Putin’s goals.

I’ll take some of that government EV. Maybe fill it with government cheese too while they’re at it.

I thought cigarettes were still the main currency.
