Yeah but so is having a piece of paper that's slightly better than someone else's. Don't burn yourself out for either.

Although in hindsight, I'd rather have them absolutely destroy my sleep schedule than ending up getting in to less favorable university than I got in

Seriously? If you're going to university you'll be fine regardless of where it ranks, how can that possibly be worth destroying your teenage years? Is this just social attitudes in Korea or does it actually make any difference?

...is that it can be picked up and continued by anyone rather than lost forever, right?

The Guardian used to be notorious for spelling mistakes so it's jokingly referred to as the Grauniad

Asking the important questions! What does "mog" even mean here?

[–] smeg@feddit.uk 10 points 11 months ago

Unlikely that any of us can answer this question properly unless we happen to know detailed laws for every country in the world. If we want a real answer we can trust then we'd need a statement from someone like the EFF otherwise our "licence" is barely more than one of those chain-letter comments saying "I do not give Facebook the right to do X".

  • Jump on platforms, collect stars, repeat 120 times
  • Collect blocks, build things, repeat until you're bored
  • Rotate blocks, make lines, repeat until you die

OP has indeed described the concept of a game

Exactly. If you're worried about someone searching for your post then you should not be posting it online (or at least ensuing you use an account that's anonymous enough that it can't be associated with you). If you want private chats then set up a group in matrix or signal!

No, I think the point of the article is that they might try to siphon off all the casual fediverse uses with flashy features and big names and then break compatibility

[–] smeg@feddit.uk 10 points 11 months ago (4 children)

I think xmpp is just the example of what could happen to the fediverse if Facebook follow the same play

I guess it's because they added it later so they can claim to have it while still being able to datamine the average user. Not that insane given that it's Facebook. I'd say what's insane is that's the same as what Telegram does and some people think that's secure!
