They got my $40 in 2012. I absolutely loved the Wing Commander series; Wing Commander II was an embarrassingly important part of my adolescense, I love space sims, and still had fond enough memories of the name Chris Roberts that I didn't think he'd blatantly lie and steal from me.

How people are still giving these clowns money I have no idea.

Isn't discord just shittier, proprietary IRC? I'm only on it because my Linux distro's dev uses it for communication for some reason, but from what I can tell, it's just a locked-down IRC client you can buy emojis and shit on.

Winamp came with an mp3 file labeled winamp.mp3.

If you played it, it was just someone yelling "Winamp: It really whips the llama's ass."

But can you still play Drug Wars?

This is a deeply unpopular take but it's the correct one. I caucusef for Bernie in both 2016 and 2020 and the amount of Hilary/Biden supporters to Bernie supporters in both respective years was dishearteningly high.

The only people who show up for primaries and caucuses are predominantly white, Christian heterosexuals of retirement age.

They're absolutely fucking terrified of anything remotely approaching progressive policy and they'll never, ever let us run anyone who doesn't make them feel safe with all their old white money.

Yep! I'm on Nvidia, the new drivers are really solid. I've read AMD cards run fine as well, but don't use one

I'm gonna start sounding like a shill, but check out Nobara. Painless install, steam games just work out of the box.

Same. They've always done this shit, but installing windows - and then uninstalling or disabling all the cooked-in bloat and spyware - has become so ridiculously tiresome that I just said fuck it and went Linux full-time.

Every update or service pack, it starts all over. There's no such thing as a clean windows install.

Nobara was up and running in like ten minutes with no fuckery at all, and it's no nice not having to fight my OS on everything.

Nvidia drivers actually come pre-baked with the installer. When you download the iso, just make sure you get the Nvidia one. It'll install the most recent drivers for you as part of the install.

I'm running a 4060ti on mine (it was free, I know they're silly cards) with zero issues.

Nobara is pretty close. Glorious Eggroll's distro, comes with proton pre-installed so it can run steam games out of the box. Worth a shot, I love it

Nvidia just requires a driver install on most distros, and the newer drivers for Linux run rather well. All but one of my games runs better on Linux than on Windows (MK1 has slowdown issues on cinematics)

It's a lot easier than it used to be. I moved to Nobara (gaming-centric fedora distro that does all the install work for you) maybe two months ago and haven't been back.

While a few things have required some tweaking, almost everything runs fine out the box and I've only had to use the console to troubleshoot one issue so far.

Throw a couple distros on a thumb drive and give one a try
