I have a conflicted view of Netflix. They're a classic big American corporation and come with all the bullshit that entails, but at the same time they do occasionally do some cool things.
Like releasing queer content despite the backlash from the right. They released that "gay boot camp" series recently and it absolutely enraged right wing bigots. This thing with blender is another example.
I am very nervous about their Warner Brothers purchase and am hoping they prove to be responsible owners of all those IP's. It seems quite unlikely, though. There are so few American corporations who aren't shitty.
That was a financial decision honestly. Else they would have dropped Chapelle.
It's good that they aren't activities hostile, but my bar is higher.
Did they loose money releasing that content? While they are at a pinnacle right now politically, right wing fascist bigots still are not a true majority. Netflix know their audience really really well (they are watching you). I bet they can typically laser predict viewership within 50k views or so. In the privacy of their own home many anti gay projectionist asswipes are watching gay stuff anyway too.
As a Batman fan, it just occurred to me that I really hope Netflix won't ruin the IP if they get the chance to buy WB.
