I don't know enough about Nick Cave to pass judgment, but he always seemed like a pretentious windbag to me. I do really like this quote though :

Yeah why is that? Decade after decade this never really improved. Trying to open a big file in notepad just always brought it to its knees. Why doesn't this shit bother anyone at Microsoft enough to write three lines of code to fix that?

I'm very ignorant on this subject, but couldn't you just sell excess to grid and get it back for a minimal markup? Seems like a good governmemt incentive to even supplement an even exchange program. Scaling things to everyone having their own giant batteries seems like a waste of the existing infrastructure.
