I've seen others suggest that this is commemorative of the revolutionary war. This year is the 250th anniversary of the United States. The lack of an olive leaf was said to signify our unwillingness to compromise with England.

Sure, that would make sense, under one condition: not knowing about all actions relating to peace and war of the fascist kakistocracy making the change.

Occam's razor very much applies here and the simplest explanation is that the administration is a bunch of edgelords who think that even entertaining the idea of peace makes you look weak and unmanly.

You know, what I said was largely right but reading a few articles about the changes makes it apparent that your interpretation is also right.

In Dec. 2025, Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent nixxed some of the quarter designs that were approved by then-Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen during the Biden Administration for focusing “on DEI and Critical Race Theory policies.” One of the coins featured a line of people with arms linked, in between the words “We shall overcome.”

At the time, U.S. Treasurer Brandon Beach said the coinage design is supposed to “celebrate American history and the founding of our great nation,” but that imagery was scrapped because “the Biden Administration and Secretary Yellen remained focused on DEI and Critical Race Theory policies.”

“The Trump Administration is dedicated to fostering prosperity and patriotism. We have no doubt these new designs will be wildly popular with the American people

I think you're both right.

Viking has the right idea on the ACTUAL reason, and you are right about the bullshit lie they will probably use to try and put a positive, America first, spin on it.

“the Biden Administration and Secretary Yellen remained focused on DEI and Critical Race Theory policies.”

And yet, the new 2026 design features a woman? Seems to go against their anti-DEI movement but okay.

It also says "liberty over tyranny", so they'll need to send it back for corrections anyway...
