Can we please not use the International Business Times? I promise I'll have a prebaked explanation someday, but until then, here's the Ars Technica article this sewage drain of an outlet is using as its lone source.

Is it just me or is Lemmy being flooded with bottom of the barrel journalism? This is an issue in so many communities that I‘m starting to think it‘s just a few people with multiple accounts pushing an agenda of slop. And people eat it up almost every time.

It’s not just Lemmy. The whole world is being flooded by ever increasing quantities of shit, and filtering through it efficiently is decreasingly easy.

pushing an agenda of slop

I tend to assume "don't know better, and moderative action for gatekeeping quality on Lemmy is sparse and delayed". Sometimes we just get Reddit's backwash because that's what's easiest, and Redditors are not discerning either.

They know better because they have been told again and again. But they only keep multiplying by the looks of it. Lack of moderation or direction probably is a huge factor I believe.

Someone‘s feeling called out. At least going by your post history of politico garbage.

LOL! After I call you out you think you can pull the Reverse UNO card? Should everyone who does post something get your personal approval first to make sure it meets your lofty standards?

It's always the ones who contribute absolutely nothing who whine most bitterly about what is being contributed by others. If you don't like what's being posted you can get off your fat ass and post something yourself.

Hmm...

Contributing isn't just posting. This is social media, not just media. Comments are as much a contribution as posts.

For it to be a reverse card you would have to call me out first but you didn‘t. You just proved I don‘t make problematic posts.

Having no problematic posts only because you have no posts at all is not the flex you think it is. Instead you make problematic comments when you whine about other people's posts.

It's sad you don't have the self-awareness to be even slightly embarrassed when that's pointed out.

  • It looks like you looked at their last post and basically nothing else.
  • Politico is a reliable source for US politics, and they were correct to post it for the article "Republicans unlock filibuster-skirting power to pump billions of dollars to ICE".
  • I don't immediately see the OP posting the IB Times over and over or being told why not to.

Politico is owned by a fascist (yes, actually ideologically fascist) company that openly supports neo Nazis. It doesn‘t matter what Politico says just like it doesn‘t matter what for example the 5 Minute Crafts Youtube channel shows. Engaging with either directly supports fascism. Your click is their currency after all.

This has been explained in several communities by several members in much more detail by the way but you won‘t listen.

If a story is worth reporting about there are a number of sources you can site but for whatever reason a hand full of accounts keep shoving Politico in our faces.

Yes, this is a problem.
