TBH I'm on the spectrum but playing tons of CRPGs taught me how to empathize. After I got that realization when I was in college my social life got exponentially better. Even when I went to a high school reunion my old high school friend told me that I was unrecognizable.

Yeah, it really comes down to your expectations. The more laid-back I've become about it (meaning I'm not expecting I'm going to fuck a stripper--I'm just there to hang out, have a good time, see pretty girls, have a drink), the better time I've had, the more fun the girls have, the less you have to spend to have a good time, etc...
That works for so many aspects of life. Tone down expectations, end up having a better time.
