Those cans would definitely explode rather than just melt.

[–] CarbonatedPastaSauce@lemmy.world 111 points 6 months ago (1 children)

There’s no juice can in the world that would melt at 500F. Even lead doesn’t melt that low. I think the person that wrote this might have been lying on the internet.

B- But people don't lie on the internet, that would be just cruel 😞

[–] AnUnusualRelic@lemmy.world 7 points 6 months ago

You'd be hard pressed to find a single instance of this.

Melting is not literally the correct word in terms of the cans themselves, but the author mentions them hissing.

Presumably the cans would be boiling, hissing and frothing juice out of the seams, which would be expanding and worsening rather rapidly, creating a heated can of juice boiling over and basically appearing to be melting, covered in liquid and froth, even though the cans themselves are not literally melting.

They might have actually exploded though, at least the better sealed ones, at some point.

ZE JUIZ BURST IN THE OVEN WHY WHY ARE THEY THERE

Hopefully this (ancient) OP did not explode any juice.

My horrible, overactive imagination told me that the cans would explode while being removed from the oven and flash-boil the superheated apple juice as it was released, spraying people with a very sticky, very hot syrup that could not be easily washed or wiped away, as one would regular apple juice.
I doubt it could actually go from superheated apple juice to a maple-syrup consistency napalm, but my brain don’t care about logic.

Totally fair and fine to not totally logically engage with a fucking 4chan post rofl, thats probably actually good for your mental health.

I am just pedantic by way of autism =p

Also, were the cans of juice to flash boil and explode at the exact time the oven was opened, spraying everyone with like 400 to 500 degree syrup... that'd almost be as bad as the fucking deep fryer scene from Watchmen, that'd be fucking horrifically painful and could blind you :X

Btw, that 'z' thing, originally a typo because of qwertz? Germans don't talk like that.

The European Commission has just announced an agreement whereby English will be the official language of the European Union rather than German, which was the other possibility.

As part of the negotiations, the British Government conceded that English spelling had some room for improvement and has accepted a 5- year phase-in plan that would become known as "Euro-English".

In the first year, "s" will replace the soft "c". Sertainly, this will make the sivil servants jump with joy. The hard "c" will be dropped in favour of "k". This should klear up konfusion, and keyboards kan have one less letter.

There will be growing publik enthusiasm in the sekond year when the troublesome "ph" will be replaced with "f". This will make words like fotograf 20% shorter.

In the 3rd year, publik akseptanse of the new spelling kan be expekted to reach the stage where more komplikated changes are possible.

Governments will enkourage the removal of double letters which have always ben a deterent to akurate speling.

Also, al wil agre that the horibl mes of the silent "e" in the languag is disgrasful and it should go away.

By the 4th yer peopl wil be reseptiv to steps such as replasing "th" with "z" and "w" with "v".

During ze fifz yer, ze unesesary "o" kan be dropd from vords kontaining "ou" and after ziz fifz yer, ve vil hav a reil sensi bl riten styl.

Zer vil be no mor trubl or difikultis and evrivun vil find it ezi TU understand ech oza. Ze drem of a united urop vil finali kum tru.

Und efter ze fifz yer, ve vil al be speking German like zey vunted in ze forst plas.

Pretty sure this was the german old form. Before the last few reforms.

See the section under dialectal realizations: th-alveolarization. That's the specific pronunciation difficulty that German speakers frequently have with the English 'th' sound. Even native English speakers often have difficulty with the 'th' sound in various contexts.

5z instead of 5th reform?

[–] MonkderDritte@feddit.de 5 points 6 months ago (1 children)
