Was there a competition for who could take a bad law and make it worse? Did I miss something?
The law was forcing news aggregators to pay to link to news sites… and now the revenue is going to the biggest corporations?
As I understand it, they cancelled that law in exchange of $100m from Google to support news outlets. Then, Facebook, Google and other big companies got most of that money.
Apparently, the gov then decided to give them the rest as well (by giving it to the news companies with the most employees) because fuck It.
You used to be cool Canada.
