Take care of that inner child. Order the midnight pizza. Play video games for 12 hours. Eat the entire tub of ice cream.

I’m not saying one should do this every day, however, it’s important to recognize the wounds and allow yourself to feel them from a place of understanding and compassion for a younger you who didn’t understand.

It’s good that Anon writes this. It’s time that he felt the pain so he can have compassion for himself and begin to heal.

I learned to play outside with fire. Mom and dad didn't last and I understood destruction better.

Fire is good for the soul...accidently poured gas on my buddies foot when I was 6 or 7 playing with fire...got to stomp his foot out and everything

Similar thing happened to me and a good friend when we were little. We went outside and burnt some nailpolish by pouring it in little cups around town. One fire got a bit too big for our liking and my friend decided to stomp it out. Bad idea as his shoe started to burn and he looked like he was straight out of an Ong-Bak scene, flailing his flaming foot around. After taking his shoe off and smashing it on the ground a few more times he managed to save his shoe. Problem was the initial fire was still going and even getting bigger. Maybe it was the little workout he had just before or the panic, but he quickly thought of the next best way of putting it out was by simply taking a piss on it. Worked out perfectly fine.

Ong-bak gave me a good visual!!!

Jesus. That was an uncomfortable read. I hope somebody gave anon a hug.

The good ending:

take out USB drive that my friend says will let me use something called "Linux"...

Spend 7 hours trying to get it to run, mysterious errors every which way, give up, go to bed...

I use arch btw

[–] SorryQuick@lemmy.ca 5 points 4 months ago

7 hours of fun, I’ll take it as a win.

I dunno anon, maybe go outside and find a good stick to hit stuff with? 🤷🏻

Kids get yourself a Linux thumb drive.

[–] MehBlah@lemmy.world 42 points 4 months ago

Stop playing minecraft and study on how to boot off a thumbdrive. Use thumbdrive OS to study on how to defeat nanny program. Crack your parents online shopping accounts and order expensive gifts. Send them to each other. Enjoy the fight as you play minecraft all night long.

Did u know that Microsoft parental controls can be overridden by local admin account. Such a thing can easily be created if not through control panel but through the classic sethc.exe copy of cmd.exe for a system level command prompt.

Does the sethc workaround work in windows 11?

Anyway, here is a quick explanation of how you do it:

Use a separate boot device to boot up your computer, it is probably easiest to use a Linux live environment with a GUI, like Linux Mint.

You need to make sure that the local drive is mounted to the live environment, it was a while since I last ran the Linux Mint live environment, but it should auto mount the local drive and put a shortcut on the desktop.

Go to Windows -> System32 on the local drive.

Rename the file sethc.exe to sethc.exe.backup then copy cmd.exe file to sethc.exe

Reboot back into windows.

You have now created a backdoor into the machine.

At the logon screen, press the Shift key five times, this normally opens a dialog box about enabling sticky keys, but since we replaced the normal sethc.exe file with a copy of cmd.exe, we will get a command line window, running as administrator, giving us unlimited access to make changes to the computer!

Now, to reset the admin password we need to use the net user command.

The syntax is this:

net user <username> <password>

So, if you want to set the password for the default Administrator account to "LemmyTest123", you enter the following:

net user administrator LemmyTest123

And press enter.

The password is now changed.

However, in some cases this may not be enough to get in as the default Administrator account is disabled.

Then you also need to enter this command:

net user administrator /active:yes

Done, you should now be able to logon as the default admin user.

Remember, to restore this loophole, you need to boot thw Linux live environment again, go to Windows -> System32, delete the file called sethc.exe and rename the file sethc.exe.backup to sethc.exe

It does still work, and my gut says it's going to work for a long time. Unless they majorly re-kajigger the way windows works in future versions

[–] muntedcrocodile@lemm.ee 2 points 4 months ago

Its only possible if the machine doesnt have bitlocker enabled which requires a tpm and i believe its a feature only available on windows pro not windows home iirc.

Yep, the computer time restriction software is definitely the problem in that situation.

From the perspective of a 12 year old, it could be, yeah.
