[–] Gradually_Adjusting@lemmy.world 23 points 4 months ago (1 children)

I'll take a nationalism meme. Uh, and Pepe

Feeling brave today, are we?

[–] GregorGizeh@lemmy.zip 5 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

Is it nationalism when it is about not being from a place? 🤔

Accessible healthcare and freedom from gun crime is SUCH a burden. Dodged the bullet there; proverbially, of course, as bullets are more an American thing.

[–] Wilzax@lemmy.world 8 points 4 months ago

Y'all shit the bed on Brexit though. Imagine if the US let Texas leave

[–] Hydra_Fk@reddthat.com 5 points 4 months ago (1 children)

But at least I'm not required to drink tea.

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 3 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Yeah just because you lot can't make tea. I get it, it's hard, it's boiling water on leaves, it's like two whole steps.

[–] Hydra_Fk@reddthat.com 1 points 4 months ago

Lol you got me. The first step of opium wars in China is just so hard for me.

Last time I was in London there was a shooting near Tower bridge

Since you guys want to be assholes about it, here’s some data to back up the fact that you have a fairly substantial amount of gun crime

[–] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 9 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Remind me of the date and I'll tell you where the 1-7 daily mass shootings in America were for that day.

[–] NegativeLookBehind@lemmy.world -2 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

Wasn’t suggesting we don’t have gun violence. Merely correcting your statement of “freedom from gun crime”

Not that time m8

[–] uienia@lemmy.world 4 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Ah yes, that singular anecdote definitely cancels out the actual statistics on the subject.

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 1 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

Anyway everyone knows London doesn't count as part of the UK.

[–] supamanc@lemmy.world 3 points 4 months ago (1 children)

I'll bet that every single place named Tower Bridge in the USA has had a shooting incident. Probably in the last year.

[–] NegativeLookBehind@lemmy.world 0 points 4 months ago

Yup, you’re probably right. I was arguing the wording, not the numbers.

Laughs in EU

[–] Dirk_Darkly@sh.itjust.works -1 points 4 months ago (2 children)

I agree. Getting stabbed by a gang of children is definitely better.

[–] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 8 points 4 months ago

For every case, it's easier to flee X number of kids with knives vs X number of kids with guns.

The "oh knives aren't safe either so toss the entire argument" has always been a bit of a sad joke.

[–] uienia@lemmy.world 6 points 4 months ago

The US also has a higher rate of stabbings per capita than the UK though.

[–] Godric@lemmy.world 10 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago) (1 children)

At least drop me a little something like that if you can't even think of a new title lmao

[–] i_am_not_a_robot@feddit.uk 2 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Sorry, I did a crosspost, but because there was no text it didn't put anything in the post body 🙁. I've added a link to the original post now, won't happen again slaps wrist

[–] Godric@lemmy.world 1 points 4 months ago

You are forgiven! Still leave a meme tho, it's like leaving cookies for Santa

Can't you read? Brasterisktsh.

[–] marble@sh.itjust.works 3 points 4 months ago

Btsh, Brtsh, Brrtsh, Brrrtsh, Brrrrrrrrrtsh all match the regexp. (British doesn't match regexp or glob though)

[–] M137@lemmy.world 8 points 4 months ago

Extra funny that's it's said by a 'Murican. That's objectively worse.

[–] gibmiser@lemmy.world 6 points 4 months ago

4channer must have got bit by a member of the royal family

[–] Blackout@kbin.run 2 points 4 months ago (1 children)

[–] Godric@lemmy.world 1 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

[–] Wanderer@lemm.ee 1 points 4 months ago

[–] chemical_cutthroat@lemmy.world -1 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Everyone gets so bent out of shape when something isn't Anti-American. If this had read:

wake up

still not Amer*can

day improves noticably (sic)

You'd all be dunking your crumpets in your tea and flicking your bean to the monarchy.

[–] rtxn@lemmy.world 5 points 4 months ago

Unironically yes, and I'm not even British.
