Guy selling something says buying it will make your, mother-in-law stop visiting, your kids smarter, and your dick longer, more at 11...

[–] MeekerThanBeaker@lemmy.world 22 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Then again... it also could not happen shortly after 2027.

[–] seven_phone@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Or could happen not shortly after 2027.

Probably couldn't happen in 2027 though, or could it?

They said humans.

[–] apfelwoiSchoppen@lemmy.world 13 points 1 week ago

If I blatantly lie about my capabilities can I also get unlimited VC money and zero blowback?

[–] JoshuaBrusque@lemmy.world 11 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I took a shit, it's growing sentient and could surpass almost all humans at almost anything by 2027.

[–] Sturgist@lemmy.ca 3 points 6 days ago

So... how's Bono these days?

[–] TigerClawTV@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

[–] HubertManne@moist.catsweat.com 3 points 1 week ago (2 children)

because it will be so smart or because we will be so stupid?

[–] yggstyle@lemmy.world 1 points 6 days ago

I wish this wasn't the first thing I thought when I saw the statement.

[–] Sterile_Technique@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

...well, hopefully it's better at politics than we are.

Though, if that bar was any lower it'd be passing through the planet core.

[–] SpikesOtherDog@ani.social 2 points 1 week ago

Heck, we could even have self driving cars

[–] sunzu2@thebrainbin.org 2 points 1 week ago

Everyone keeps pointing at 2027 for a variety of world changing events. I’m kinda worried.

[–] Entropywins@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

It'll be exactly like y2k or 2012...

[–] gwilikers@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Is it... Is it cuz of Cyberpunk?

[–] tal@lemmy.today 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Isn't that 50 years later?

[–] gwilikers@lemmy.ml 1 points 6 days ago

Yes! TIL I can't count.

If so, then Politicians are likely to ban AI from participating in politics because they don't want competition to eat them up.

[–] flamingo_pinyata@sopuli.xyz 1 points 1 week ago

Fuck I hope so. Humans should be replaced at everything by AI.

Then we'll be able to discuss what even makes a human. All of us dying and a couple of billionaires left to live alone is a desirable goal /s

[–] Naich@lemmings.world 1 points 1 week ago

That's great. AI can deal with all the shit that humans have to do like working, and we can all chill out and take it easy.

Anthropic chief says AI could surpass “almost all humans at almost everything”

Agreed.

shortly after 2027

I doubt that.

I think that there are near-term things that have real value that one can build with existing approaches. However, I think that we are still a fair bit of research away from beating humans across the board.

Three years is "build a software package when you already know what you're doing", not "start on a grand research program" timescale.

how about no, nerd.
