Prison of the Future: Prisoners will be able to implant memories of the victims of their crimes.

Millions of people around the world are in prison.

However, statistics show that imprisonment does not guarantee the prevention of reoffending.

Oh so we know punishment focused response doesn't increase rehabilitation so the idea is punishment in a dystopian sci fi way?

We could like, try listening to the experts instead

Isn't this a plot to Star Trek Voyager episode?

Hopefully we'll have more compassion in the future and treat criminals like they're in need of help.. not ideal test subjects for a new torture machine.

So, how about these rich villains that have taken over Usa, what help do you offer them?

They’ll implant new skills like “learning to knit”, but won’t mention anything about how to use the three seashells.

If the future has prisons, I don't want it.

oh nice. i like that idea! what's your plan to deal with criminals?

Very glad you asked!

Rehabilitation centers aiming at helping these people and reintegrating them into society instead of punishing them.

I think we lost the story with our prison system, currently it only punishes and that helps no one IMO.

I do not believe people just wake up and decide to do crime, there are usually systemic problems that leaves them no options. If I am starving I will also steal. So punishing me will do nothing there will be other starving people and they will steal too. Understanding these people and the problems and decisions that led them on this path is vital if society is to exist IMO.

The good thing is that some Nordic countries are with a similar viewpoint so there are some attempts at improving the prison system. Article

The bad thing is that america exists and if you read anything on the American prison system they look horrendous, if you read a bit more you will know it's just slavery.
