Mexican authorities are reporting the seizure of an armored truck with gunports and a machinegun capable of bringing down aircraft.

Chihuahua state police officers found the stolen Ford F-450 with welded steel plates during a three-day sweep of mountains in the western portion of the state, where violent cartel clashes have been reported in recent weeks.

I was hoping this would be, like, Bigfoot but with a .50. Nah, just a monstruo (narco tank) which is an extremely common sight in cartel-controlled mexico. Weird looking deathtraps, most of them.

Mexico is turning into Texas, it seems.

I love shitting on American gun culture, but no, it's not.

Americans may be allowed to get licenses for automatic weapons, or buy a 50 cal rifle off the shelf, but there's no combination of tax stamps that will allow you to drive around in an armored technical with a mounted Browning M2 50 cal machine gun.

At least not yet, fingers crossed for the future. /s

They're not doing it legally in Mexico either

I didn't say they were.

My comment was a very specific response to the one above it.

I know. I'm just pointing out that your entire point is moot.

You said,

Americans may be allowed to get licenses for automatic weapons, or buy a 50 cal rifle off the shelf, but there's no combination of tax stamps that will allow you to drive around in an armored technical with a mounted Browning M2 50 cal machine gun.

In response to the person saying Mexico is turning into Texas.

My point is, you cannot do that legally in Mexico either. So the same thing that would stop someone from doing it in Mexico is stopping them from doing it in Texas.

So whether or not you can get a permit for it is irrelevant. They're doing it without permission in Mexico, so it would also be done without permission in Texas. Nothing different.

For better, or worse, American gun culture is rooted in legal guns, and gun laws.

Now those guns may end up being trafficked or sold illegally, but that's not what the gun culture centered around.

The comment I was responding to was clearly a commentary on Texas gun culture, which is part of American gun culture, and again, that's based around legal firearms, and gun laws.

Armored technicals with 50 cal M2 Brownings, are not tax stampable for civilian use, so definitely not a part of American, or Texan, gun culture.
