There are Rolex collectors who will throw $20k at a watch easy.

He's going after people who buy shit with his name on it because they want to be shown as in the "in group".

Well, telling time is one more feature than most jewelry has, and that's what mechanical watches really are. That's not even very expensive as far as watches go.
I sure wouldn't buy one myself, but I won't judge anyone for their taste in fashion accessories. In this case I will absolutely judge them, but for entirely different reasons.

I'm sure it's this. Everything about this, down to the variable delays that different customers endure, screams out that this is a shady, shoestring operation stalling until they finally hit minimum order quantity with their drop-shipper in China.

I think like in any other cult that fleeces its members, the answer for many is, "yes."
Cults tend to charge for immaterial things, and if you complain they say it's your fault it didn't work, and to fix it you need to give more.

Some watch collectors ordered earlier models to see how bad they are, and they're basically being made with the same components as shitty Rolex knockoffs, which line up with assumptions after hearing the producers name.
If you know absolutely nothing about watches they might seem different, but if you appraise it or a collector looks at, they'll probably openly laugh when looking at them.
It's cheap junk spray painted gold then stamped with Trump's name and the word "crypto".

He can’t think of a better scam than selling watches, which will piss off his base? He should just give out a bunch of government contracts to shell companies he owns. Of course I suppose his base will still support him even if they get ripped off for a watch.
