What's the context of this?

[–] specialdealer@lemm.ee 95 points 9 months ago (2 children)

A police officer recently got scared by a falling acorn thinking it was a gunshot. He then mag dumped dozens of rounds into his own squad car thinking it was the man he had in custody (handcuffed, searched for weapons already, and trapped inside).

Luckily he struck with police precision. Meaning he missed every single shot and the guy was unharmed physically. Now he quit his job due to public ridicule.

This meme jokes by extending the conspiracy theories around Taylor swift to include dropping the acorn.

Didn’t know about that acorn thing. Wow. Maybe we should not make the bottom of the barrel into officers. Just saying.

I mean I don't expect anything to change, but maybe give people some actual training and gun safety lessons before handing them weapons.

He also shouted "I'm hit!" Apparently not knowing the difference between being shot and, err, not being shot.

[–] Johanno@feddit.de 12 points 9 months ago

Ok this sounds like he knows exactly what he was doing. He knew that he could get away with it when he's claiming to be shot at. Like the southpark episode where they hunt bears and shout "he is coming right at you!" so they can legally shoot them.

In America we do all of that right at birth and you are good to go after that.

The context is that just recently Taylor Swift sent a cease and desist to the twitter account tracking her and other celebrity private jet usage because she is embarassingly bad about using it for tiny flights.

The other side of it is the story about the cop in Florida who unloaded his pistol into his police cruiser while someone was inside because he mistook an acorn hitting the roof of the car for a muffled gunshot. He fired his whole clip into the car and yelled 'I'm hit' which also got his partner to shoot their clip into the cruiser.

The context is literally a picture of a plane, the words “Taylor Swift”, and people keep upvoting them so people keep making more.

[–] mriormro@lemmy.world 3 points 9 months ago

I don't think you understand what the word 'context' means.

Can someone with experience in Taylor Swift please explain this meme?

[–] Primarily0617@kbin.social 34 points 9 months ago (2 children)

it's a level 2 meme

meme 1

  • taylor swift use jet lots
  • taylor swift campaign for environment lots
  • taylor swift try sue "taylor swift jet tracker" twitter person
  • funny to make fun of hypocritical person
  • = meme series implying taylor swift uses her private jet in funny scenarios like to cross the road or to go to her private yet

meme 2

less of a meme, more a video that surfaced of a police officer trying to execute a handcuffed man because an acorn fell on the roof of his car and he thought it was a gunshot and later had to resign

meme 1 + 2

taylor swift in private jet drop acorn out of window, land on police car roof, scare police, lead to bodycam video

[–] GigglyBobble@kbin.social 16 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Thanks. That's some advanced internet shit.

[–] EldritchFeminity@lemmy.blahaj.zone -5 points 9 months ago

Of note: she didn't try to sue the Twitter kid. Her legal team sent a cease and desist letter, which is basically the rich person equivalent of your neighbor knocking on your door and saying, "Please stop doing that."

[–] EdibleFriend@lemmy.world 9 points 9 months ago (1 children)

She flies around yeeting acorns. Nobody is sure why.

[–] Che_Donkey@lemmy.ml 5 points 9 months ago (1 children)

I am 100% sure I know.

...but I ain't a snitch

[–] Primarily0617@kbin.social 1 points 9 months ago

From my own sources: Taylor is indeed done, and not just on Twitch.

[–] Napain@lemmy.ml 0 points 9 months ago (1 children)

they only meme on her because she is a danger to maga

[–] ThatWeirdGuy1001@lemmy.world 6 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago) (1 children)

No. We meme her because she threatened the guy who tracks her private jet with a lawsuit over him tracking her jet even though it's public information.

She's just like every other billionaire. They act all philanthropic and down to earth until they have to deal with a ~~real life problem~~ minor inconvenience and then they show just how narcissistic they truly are.

[–] Napain@lemmy.ml -1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

then why specifically now and specifically her and not billionaires in general

[–] ThatWeirdGuy1001@lemmy.world 2 points 9 months ago

Because she's currently one of the most popular people in the world. And also because of what I originally said about her threatening a lawsuit because someone is tracking her private jet.

She was coming off as a super nice person and one of the "good" billionaires and then pulled this crap and it made everyone realize it's all just an act.

Also this isn't the first billionaire people have made fun of for overusing their private jets. Elongated Muskrat banned the xitter account that tracked his private jet and the internet had a hay day with it. It's part of where all those Musk memes started from.
