Our small group has had a lot of fun with REPO and Lethal Company. Both are very similar gameplay wise but REPO feels more polished imo.
There are no complex systems to learn and little or no progression at all so it’s easy to pick up and play.

Deep Rock Galactic was pretty fun for my group
I'm in the same kinda friend group, and we are always trying to find that next coop game. I usually check gg.deals daily with a the coop feature selected.
We just played free Demo of Toxic Command it was fun for a weekend night. We have played all the Killing Floor games, and I personally think this one could be just as good.
Here are some other games we always go back to, in no particular order.
Have fun!
Gonna second Risk of Rain 2 and Mycopunk. Both of them are really fun if you like roguelike/bullet hells and looter shooters, respectively.
I'll also throw in Super Battle Golf. A friend and I just picked it up and it's so much fun and hilarious, up to 8 can play at a time.

I haven't played myself because I don't have friends to play with but maybe something like PEAK or Abiotic Factor?
ah yes we had played PEAK briefly, it's amazing!
feel free to message me if you'd like to play something. maybe we'll have similar taste who knows
PEAK is literally peak. Such a gem.
Peak is a must play! There’s even a mod to unlock the number of players per lobby so that you can play with all your friends.
Peak would be perfect for OP's group. It's cooperative, so having players of wildly different skill levels just means the better players can support the newer ones.
Abiotic Factor is an excellent game, but unfortunately it'd fail both of OP's player requirements (too complex, and easily spoiled/speedrun by someone looking things up ahead of time).
Deadlock for the intense sometimes competitive gameplay. For the chill side, Tower Unite. And for the laughs: Super Battle Golf!
Guild Wars 2 has a dynamic level scaling system that does a pretty good job of solving disparities like the one you described. I think it also has simpler battle mechanics than other MMOs. And the base game is free.
It's a bit stretch, but you can try Golf with your friends. It's fun, mostly casual, but can be also pretty intense.
Oh yep we sometimes play that! One friend hates it lol
🥲 i forgot that this game is kinda expensive
I can highly recommend this game, and my IsThereAnyDeal extension says it's currently $3.58 at GameBillet, though I'd say it's worth every penny of the $20 they're asking.
still waiting for SoR 2
It's a shame they pulled the demo.
oh yes! this is kind of like wazhack!
Levelling the new warlock class with my friend in diablo 2 resurrected like its 2001 again
Amazing times !
Just less linkin park and more voice chat, these days compared to then
Yapyap, Webfishing, Space Station 13/14 (always), and Species Unknown
How many people are in your group? If its 4 people or less then you guys have tons of options, but if its 5 or more, your options are extremely limited (I know this because I play in a group of 5).
Something like Helldivers 2 seems like it could be a good fit, but it only supports up to 4 players.
usually 3 or 4.
In that case, you got a lot of options.
Helldivers 2 would probably be a good fit. It doesn't have a lot to learn for a player to do well, and if one player is a min-maxing nuisance it won't really effect the rest of the player's experience. It's a cooperative third person shooter. Its hard for one player to take over everything, especially at the higher difficulties.
Kletka.
It's not ready yet, but if a multiplayer Alien Isolation seems interesting, Species Unknown.
Dota 2
My app freaked out and posted this 6 times sorry op
Dota 2 is great (I've got thousands of hours, and am still on the low side in my circles) but its hardly something I'd recommend for those who don't want to spend time learning. Its like 50 hours to learn the basics, then another hundred to understand basic positioning and strategy.
i was wondering what that was!
thanks - but we aren't into that sort of game
