"criminal" is not an exclusive identity, it's just a label for someone who happens to have committed a crime. You can be a criminal and a worthy part of society at the same time. Killing people almost always causes more misery than it removes.

Yeah, and maybe it should be mentioned that Arkham City has a huge amount of political prisoners and other innocents inside of it.

Right, though Batman stories rarely depict ordinary people who just happen to commit a single crime. Criminals in that universe are all cackling psychopaths who wander the streets, assaulting, robbing, and murdering anyone they encounter. They’re much more aptly labeled villainous outlaw gangsters than mere criminals.

Thanks, I may have missed the part where this post is about a fictional city 🙈

The biggest criminals are the wage thieves?

I want an arc where Batman gets a konk on the head and forgets he is Bruce Wayne, then starts hunting down Bruce Wayne for being a criminal billionaire.

Even in the context of the game, at some point, Batman is asked something like, "These are all criminals, should you really be helping them?" and Batman responds by pointing out that some of the inmates are political prisoners. Which is very applicable to real life, given how corrupt almost all justice systems in the world are.

Define who is a "criminal". Usually it just means black people

good if the laws are approved by citizens (you don't get 40 years in prison for skipping tax vs free pass for pedos) & applied to EVERYONE (you skip tax you get 40 years, parasite twitter guy does that and he get praised of how smart he is

Death penalty for all crimes is a bit much, though. It's the kind of law that turns a shoplifter into a political revolutionairy.

I wasn't on board with the idea, but now that mention this...
