Yes, because of Proton, I'm seriously considering dumping Microsoft now. My big holdup was my library of Steam games. I just found out about Proton a couple of weeks ago, and as it turns out, most of my games are pretty compatible.

I was thinking about the exact same thing! Open source, OSM mapping with a Pokemon-like travel and collection game. But I'm super busy in grad school at the moment, so I can't do it. Just put the idea out into the universe for now.

There are PeerTube servers that allow a certain reasonable amount of content for free.

PeerTube is also a Fediverse service, and does the longer form videos, like YouTube. It mostly works fine; it just lacks content.
