I worked at Apple for a while and I can see a use case for this.
It was a little annoying to have to change your iPhone with the card reader attached (for taking payment and stuff in the shop floor) when it was out of battery. You would have to go upstairs and grab another one off charge, sign in, two factor, and then go downstairs to carry on. Only this one won’t pair with the card reader so you gotta do it again.
If you could just do this like the toaster then time saved would be a lot across a company.
Long delay in replying here, but we did have limits in the number of gift cards combined value you could buy, not that they couldn’t keep buying them in different stores.
I think this was to curb people using stolen cards to buy them rather than to prevent people sending gift cards to scammers.

This is useful as I didn’t really know what “transcoding videos” meant and why I might need to be concerned with it.
I now know that it the process of converting a video from its original format, resolution, or bitrate. And that this can be important if one of my friends is using a device that say isn’t 4K compatible and all my content is 4K.
I know you probably already know this, but I thought I would add for others that may stumble across this.
