What unjust laws? Immigration laws? People that break the law getting detained is unjust? Is that you, Jasmine Crocket?

[–] IzzyJ@lemmy.world 0 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

They have a right to fair trial, warrants, and to face their accusors. So long as these remain not done, the enforcement is unjust

[–] FreedomAdvocate@lemmy.net.au 0 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Most of them have already had a “fair trial”/warrant/etc and been ordered to leave, and just…..didn’t.

[–] IzzyJ@lemmy.world 0 points 2 days ago (1 children)

No they didn't. They just said that without proving it, and you believed them despite the cases there they do wrongly deport citizens

[–] FreedomAdvocate@lemmy.net.au 0 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

I’m curious why you think someone who entered the country illegally deserves a “fair trial” before being deported when they’re in the country illegally?

[–] Flisty@mstdn.social 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

@FreedomAdvocate @IzzyJ because you can't establish whether they're in the country illegally without a fair trial.

[–] FreedomAdvocate@lemmy.net.au 1 points 17 hours ago* (last edited 17 hours ago) (2 children)

Yes you can lol. Citizenship records exist. Visa records exist.

Can you determine if someone has a drivers license without a trial?

[–] Flisty@mstdn.social 0 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

@FreedomAdvocate if I were law enforcement I probably could establish whether you had a driver's licence, but who's making me do it? If I tried to put you in jail for driving without a licence, even though you had a licence that I didn't check, what's your recourse?

[–] FreedomAdvocate@lemmy.net.au 1 points 16 hours ago

So your argument is that they disregard procedures, and your solution to this is…… procedures?

[–] Flisty@mstdn.social 0 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

@FreedomAdvocate What's the process to make sure those get checked before you get punished for being there? I say "you" on purpose - if I said "freedom advocate is here illegally! Take them!" and they believed me and threw you in the back of a van, what would you expect to happen at that point? Who would you speak to? How? How would you make sure they did what needed to be done to establish *your* legality? How would you make them check your papers?

[–] FreedomAdvocate@lemmy.net.au 1 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

They wouldn’t punish me in the first place because they’d have checked their records and seen that I am a citizen. No one is just being rounded up on an allegation and deported. No citizens have been deported.

You’re saying that they don’t follow procedures, and your solution is……procedures?

Cool, so no citizens have been deported. Thanks for confirming my point and agreeing with me.

Our law- rightly- operates on the basis or natural rights. Endowed by their creator, and inalienable. Do you know what that means? It means rights aren't something given to you by the constitution, you are born with them just for being a person, and they cannot be taken away. If we have a right to fair trial, so does everyone who ever lived, whether they got them is just a matter of how oppressive their governments were. Illegal immigrants are people and thus have natural rights.

[–] FreedomAdvocate@lemmy.net.au -1 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

You don’t have a right to a “fair trial” for not being able to prove you’re a citizen or have a valid visa to be in the country though lol. This doesn’t need a trial because there’s nothing to argue, nothing in question. Citizenship records exist. Visa records exist.

[–] IzzyJ@lemmy.world 0 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

That doesn't even make sense. A trial is where you'd find out whether or not you'd be able to prove it. Are you suggesting weresupposed to not assume innocence if they don't have an idea in them at the time of detainment, because that's a right too

[–] FreedomAdvocate@lemmy.net.au 1 points 14 minutes ago* (last edited 13 minutes ago)

You know that police can check citizenship on these things called computers, right? When the police ask if you have a drivers license, they already know if you have one or not, and even if it’s expired.

You don’t need a trial to prove you’re a citizen - you just need to actually be a citizen. Do you think people go to trial to prove that they have a drivers license? Lol
