He clearly didn't forget about it, or else he wouldn't have been able to write the green text

His very premise is faulty!

[–] GigglyBobble@kbin.social 21 points 10 months ago (1 children)

You cracked the case! Wait.. does that mean, some people on 4chan lie?!

[–] UnRelatedBurner@sh.itjust.works 5 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

no way, probably wrote it before the two weeks. They just made a prediction

[–] MxM111@kbin.social 15 points 10 months ago

He wrote it before! Duh.

[–] fidodo@lemmy.world 8 points 10 months ago

He tattooed the story on his back

[–] palitu@aussie.zone 2 points 10 months ago

He's a phony!

This greentext is probably fake, but as someone dealing with memory loss and brain fog, I feel that I need to speak up about the last line.

It's jarring to see people comment on how saying 'forgot two weeks later' makes everything a lie. 'Forget' and 'permanently forget' are two different things. With memory loss, some memories can feel like a book that randomly checks out and checks into the library.

Had a buddy in the early 2000s that had memory loss. Before GPS this dude wouldn’t remember north from south but when his memory clicked he was able to navigate the entire Washington DC area with no problems. It was very interesting.

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 13 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Yeah that actually sounds about right. Memory loss is often like having a word on the tip of your tongue but the word is an entire decade of your life or your partner’s phone number or anything you know you should know but you just can’t get at.

This is what happens to my 80-year-old dad as he declines mentally. He starts conversations and then it's like he forgets what words to use. It's incredibly frustrating, especially for him. He knows what he wants to say, gets into it, then there's a "file not found" moment that derails him.

Who cares if it’s fake, as long as it’s funny

[–] No_Change_Just_Money@feddit.de 62 points 10 months ago (1 children)

He even forgot that you are not allowed to lie on the internet

[–] sleen@lemmy.zip 8 points 10 months ago

Yeah who would do that..

Fake: anon has a gf
Gay: anon got drafted for the military

[–] JimboDHimbo@lemmy.ca 20 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Is this the plot of The Notebook?

[–] DragonTypeWyvern@literature.cafe 3 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

I maintain that she actually married the other guy and everyone just plays along with it because otherwise she just talks about how much better he was in the sack.

[–] JanoRis@kbin.social 12 points 10 months ago

He even forgot that he married her

[–] PhlubbaDubba@lemm.ee 11 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Cognitive function impaired by increased crayon intake.

[–] rustyfish@lemmy.world 8 points 10 months ago (5 children)

This is written by an AI isn’t it?

[–] isildun@sh.itjust.works 30 points 10 months ago

This is an old greentext from before the "AI boom" so it's almost certainly not written by an AI. It switches from girlfriend to wife because the story is fake.

[–] glibg10b@lemmy.ml 20 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I hate that "written by AI" is the go-to accusation nowadays, and it's mostly made by people who can't tell the difference.

Humans can make up stories too, you know.

[–] rustyfish@lemmy.world -5 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

Pretty sure this has been written by an AI.

A badly programmed one.

[–] Jessica@discuss.tchncs.de 11 points 10 months ago (2 children)

Girlfriend switched to wife during the story, if that indicates anything

[–] Vlyn@lemmy.zip 12 points 10 months ago

Yeah, it indicates that the story is fake and written by a human. AI would do better, lol.

[–] 0ops@lemm.ee 1 points 10 months ago

Maybe he forgot the marriage

[–] UnRelatedBurner@sh.itjust.works 7 points 10 months ago

I didn't spot any flags.

[–] Justas@sh.itjust.works 3 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Lol

Phind: Sure, here's a 4chan style greentext about everything on the internet being fake:

Be me

Spend all day browsing the internet

Come across a news article about a new scientific discovery

Excitedly share it with friends

Later find out it was debunked

Feel like an idiot

Realize everything you thought you knew is a lie

Start doubting everything

Even start doubting your own existence

End up in a deep existential crisis

Decide to stop using the internet

But then realize I need it for work

Back to square one

Internet is full of lies

But also full of truth

Can't tell which is which anymore

Life is confusing

But at least I have my cat to keep me company

[–] halvar@lemm.ee 1 points 3 months ago

It took a lot of scrolling, but I seem to have found the funny.
