The FBI’s domestic terrorism watchlist is set to double in the coming months, according to journalist Ken Klippenstein, who has been reporting on President Trump’s National Security Presidential Memorandum titled “Countering Domestic Terrorism and Organized Political Violence,” also known as NSPM-7. The memo identifies potential domestic terrorists as someone expressing “anti-Christian,” “anti-capitalism” or “anti-American” views. Democratic Congressmember Ro Khanna responded on X, writing, “Trump’s NSPM-7 represses freedom of speech & association, investigating any organization with 'anti-capitalism' or 'anti-American' views. I ran a primary in 2003 against the Patriot Act and war in Iraq. NSPM-7 is a greater infringement on freedoms than the Patriot Act.”

Whelp, guess I’m now waiting for a call from my dad where he calls me a terrorist.

[–] Kennystillalive@feddit.org 11 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Non American here and correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this the reason the 2nd amendment is for? I mean the goverment overstepping their power?

[–] IndridCold@lemmy.ca 4 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

There is no amendment for courage though.

Americans will roll over and expose their bloated belly like they always do.

[–] bitjunkie@lemmy.world 2 points 4 hours ago

Lots of tough talk from the other side of the Atlantic when you know damn well you wouldn't go shooting at politicians or whatever dumb and suicidal thing you seem to be advocating that we do.

[–] MourningDove@lemmy.zip 26 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

We’ve reached the point in this shitshow of a timeline where being anti-fascist is anti-American.

Let that sink it, and the let that illustrate how America can never be what it was, or was ever supposed to be.

If you’re able to leave, I’d advise you to leave. And soon. It’s going to get SO much worse.

[–] pyre@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

you're just catching up... being antifascist has always been anti-American in the rest of the world.

Capitalism is evil and this government should be disbanded and everyone running it should be in prison at minimum.

and every business supporting them should have its leadership thrown in prison. and every "Nerd Reich" Silicon Valley techbro should be given life in prison, in high-security solitary confinement.

[–] reddifuge@lemmy.world 14 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Well howdy, fellow terrorist.

[–] Alaknar@sopuli.xyz 13 points 1 day ago

Atheists are now terrorists

Man, every day I commit another crime I didn't know I was committing

[–] dhork@lemmy.world 58 points 2 days ago (3 children)

They use to use "Godless" as a slur. I guess they can't anymore because they also want to punish people who don't believe in a god the same way they do.

Atheists are now terrorists

So are Native Americans I assume. Not a helluva lot patriotism in the reservations, at least the folks I've known. Great folks. Honest opinions on America.

[–] skuzz@discuss.tchncs.de 15 points 1 day ago

And yet, the Patriot Act and all its evil also still exists.

This isn't worse as much as it can extend those already unconstitutional evil things for yet more unconstitutional evil.

This is from the dictators handbook. Make everyone guilty so you can pick up anyone you like, whenever you like.

The fact that NSPM-7 wasn’t THE headline since it was signed on September 25th is an utterly damning indictment of our media and what they focus on. There have been a multitude of things since then that are also utterly damning indictments of our media, but NSPM-7 was like, the whole fucking game. It’s saying “I’m gonna paint with a broad brush and tell the FBI and other DHS orgs and internal security bullshit to surveil and persecute people I don’t like, and whose ideas I don’t like”.

So much for keeping the republic.

He will use this to arrest Mamdani, mark my words. AOC and Sanders too. And any other democratic socialist, basically.

[–] ameancow@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Mamdani fortunately has turned a bit of a corner, more and more establishment Dems are being forced to recognize his existence, if not outright bending the knee.

He has too big of a popular lead at this point, the administration lost their chance to deport him or hold him without trial. They know that New York, despite whatever divisions they've tried to sow, will unify and come together if they do ratshit gangster shit to one of their own, especially someone so popular.

I almost welcome them to try. I fear more for his life honestly, but not his capture or arrest. The administration is barely smart enough to not shoot themselves in the face, but I don't know their feelings about other targets.

This proposition will certainly be struck down by judges across the country, but like with everything, they are trying to cross bridges by introducing these ideas now so they can revisit it again later when people are less likely to be shocked. As they've been doing over and over.

Welp, lets just get this out there. Christian Nationalists are a blight on the world. Capitalism is designed to keep you oppressed and should be abolished. America has been a shithole for a couple years now but its been on the decline for decades. America #1 is propaganda drilled into kids brains to keep them loyal to a broken system.
Guess im a terrorist now.

On what fucking grounds? I love how in america today nothing has to make sense and no one even feels the need to argue in favor of nonsensical views. They just state them as fact and get emotional about them if challenged.

It's "terrorism" to wish for a better society if that view of society conflicts with the current economic system. What a fucked up joke of a world. I guess this is an accidental admission that we're an oligarchy, since you're seen as an existential threat if your views would make the 1% less rich.

anti-American

Oops, the Republican party is now officially all domestic terrorists. Hopefully they're rounded up quickly.

[–] incompetent@programming.dev 11 points 1 day ago (1 children)

They admitted it at CPAC:

Did a CPAC Banner Say, 'We Are All Domestic Terrorists'?

Yes.

Not any sort of action, but merely holding those views. Are we entering thought-crime territory now?

The USA should hold a 51% stake in every business it subsidizes. Looking at the oil and gas companies.
