I had a ton of fun with the GTA V single player campaign, years ago.
I'll wait for the reviews, and probably for the price to drop, but if it's not all multiplayer micro transaction hell I'll absolutely play the biggest game of the decade.
As with most games I'm just not going to get it day one and wait for the reviews. It's not like they're going to run out of stock so there's no harm in delaying things.
I want to see what they do with the RP side of things, as there are rumours of a proper RP mode, which would make online play actually bearable. But since it's just rumours with no evidence, I'm going to wait.
If I do, I will probably play it for around two weeks. That's when I expect anti-cheat to get me.

Yeah, I’d imagine the remaining staff revolting because they did some union busting and fired a bunch of people will do that.
Keep in mind GTA V alone literally made them BILLIONS.
I was so desperate to play the same driving and lock-aim shooting missions again with different cutscenes between them too.
Oh my, guess all that "not" union busting mess is backfiring on them big time.
That's literally what happened, the remaining devs are revolting.

They lost more money delaying than if they had allowed everyone to unionize. Pathetic.
Where is it reported that the remaining staff are revolting?
Remaining developers have begun openly protesting the company.
I don't see mention of remaining developers protesting, only IWGB and the reading of statements.
I can't find anything in the Bloomberg articles that say that either.

Did they try to deny the obvious union busting?
Yeah. Said the fired workers were sharing company secrets on discord instead of having union chats.
The company secret being they would fire anyone who tried to form a union.
We'll see what comes out because firing people for trying to form a union is extremely illegal here and could lead to every fired employee getting a year's pay in one go
Remember you are still supporting them by pirating it and talking about it. Boycott for real.

All I care about is when I can download the cracked PC version.
Had my money on a 2027 release for the PC after the first trailer dropped in late 2023. Looks like i wasnt pessimistic enough even though i accounted for a console exclusive year and a rather big delay. Maybe by 2028 the AI bubble will have popped and GPUs are affordable again.

Anyway: For AAA releases I always assume [Announced release year + 1 year]
It always get's postponed for one year. So far every occurence has been confirming my hypothesis.
Even if the AI bubble bursts by then, chuds will probably come up with some new bullshit to keep the market inflated, just like scalpers, crypto miners, and NFT weirdos before them.
I remember when GTA 5 came out, everybody was excited. San Andreas had been HUGE. Both in map size, and in game sales.
I bought it day 1. Then the PS4 came out, and GTA5 for PS4. By this point we all knew what GTA5 was.
My friend wanted so badly for me to buy a PS4, just to buy GTA 5 again, just so he'd have someone to play with.
Then PS5 came out. Same story.
I actually bought a PS4 at some point. Regret it. Barely ever played it.
Then I bought a PS5. Regret it. Barely ever play it.
And now that I know how microtransaction laiden GTA is, I'll be skipping GTA6 entirely.
Now I see them firing a bunch of people. A few days later I see GTA6 is delayed until this time next year.

I understand why youre not interested and I also don't care for it, but it's disingenuous to say it isn't one of the most hyped games of all time. The first trailer has 268 million views on youtube and that's only on the official channel. People are excited.

Understandable. It was a huge step down from SA in terms of world activities. 5 only managed to rise to levels above it in the online portion (and only through hella years of additions).
4s driving and shooting was better than SA but everything else makes SA better. I wanted then to marry the two together for the best GTA possible but they never did and probably won't ever
I still play GTA Vice City and Vice City Stories.. I never looks back or forward from that moment.
I'd take GTA 4 or 5 over San Andreas, easily. And at this point, a large part of the appeal is GTA Online for a ton of folks; not me, but a ton of folks.
4 was a masterpiece. The story is supurb.
Red dead 2 was insanely good
I liked the DLCs as well. I know why they don't do them anymore, as online is a money printing machine. But I really liked them and wished they had done more.
The world exists, so just add a story with a bunch of missions => nice DLC. But since they make such an obscene amount of money from online it makes no sense for them to do any more.
The lost and damned was one of the best stories that GTA has ever had.

How are other publishers supposed to avoid the release date if it keeps changing?
It's actually close to around the time Activision releases Call of Duty games, and that year's CoD will be MW4. I HOPE all the Infinity Ward higher ups are having heart attacks right now, after what they did to the CoD matchmaking they deserve every game of theirs to flop. IW peaked with the original MW series, and maybe the writing team for Infinite Warfare, everything they did after that was abysmal dogshit.
I have a family member who worked for IW on CoD but left shortly after the merger when they saw the writing on the wall. Granted they left for a company just as bad ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I feel bad for triple A developers, every single employer that they can go to is a different flavor of shitty.
Definitely, but they (my family member) did well for themselves and their family. They moved between big name studios but have found a comfortable career not tied to any big name studio
I haven't kept in close contact with them but it's pretty fun hearing about, or even playing, games they've worked on (every once in a while I check up on what they've done)
They eventually got into the sound side of things and occasionally would do recordings when family got together. One time in particular I remember, we went on a walk and they brought recording equipment. Recorded the ambient sounds while we were on the trail. Sometimes we'd be talking and other times we were walking in silence. Recording us approaching and departing; the sounds of our footsteps on different terrain: gravel, dirt, grass, pavement. Got some closeups of a small creek that ran next to the trail. Would record the sounds of a field of wild grass, or a stand of trees. I wonder if anything they recorded ended up in some game.. That would be pretty dope
Tl;Dr What I can say is, they genuinely loved their job no matter which shitty big name they worked under. And they got to do some genuinely fun things in the pursuit of bettering their work
Sorry for the wall of text, idk I just haven't really had somewhere to share that. I've never heard someone mention infinity ward , like literally ever. Any time I've said the name I've been met with blanks stares until I say "Call of Duty"

Eh, fuck it. I have no need for more "douche and a turd sandwich" "both sides suck" humor in the 2020s and I have zero desire to give rockstar any money after their blatant union busting.
