It's been taken down today. How anyone could've looked at it during production and thought 'that'll do' is beyond me.

[–] Lumidaub@feddit.org 58 points 2 months ago (1 children)

People who like AI images have absolutely no eye for details. The whole thing looks okay so it's okay. And if you point out all the things that don't make sense, they get angry - at you, not the AI.

People have absolutely no eye for details.

FTFY.

I was a pro artist for 10 years, I can promise you, the average person has zero perception of anything past "vibe." The people online who contribute to forums like this are generally going to be people with slightly more focus and understanding.

[–] Serinus@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

But not much more. Here's a fun experiment you can try at home.

Go into a thread you generally agree with. Post something that supports that vibe, BUT start your paragraph with a negative word.

People will take the vibe from that one word and not consider the meaning of the rest of your post. They don't comprehend sentences or paragraphs, they take the vibe of the first charged word they see.

[–] ameancow@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

It's depressing how true that is.

[–] frunch@lemmy.world 17 points 2 months ago (2 children)

It was not only made by AI, but approved by AI 🤖✅🖼️

[–] mPony@lemmy.world 8 points 2 months ago (1 children)

ooh! ooh! can we get them put up on buildings by AI too?? Maybe we can have the buildings built by AI!! I'm sure they'll be entirely non-Lovecraftian

[–] Hadriscus@jlai.lu 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I totally buy that they would be non-euclidean though

[–] possiblylinux127@lemmy.zip 3 points 2 months ago

There would be a random sliding glass door between the 13-14 floors

"That mural rendering absolutely moved me, you didn't just capture the subtle cosmic horrors, you took the twisted abominations to an entirely new level, and really, only someone like you could possibly pull something like this off -- Would you like to take a deeper dive and make some individual pictures of chickendogs or people with backwards faces?"

I love burning entire trees as firewood on ice, that's definitely a smart and cool human activity.

[–] Typhoon@lemmy.ca 13 points 2 months ago

It makes a good metaphor for climate change though.

[–] LadyButterfly@reddthat.com 9 points 2 months ago

HELLO FELLOW HUMAN

[–] jballs@sh.itjust.works 6 points 2 months ago

Lol they actually do that in Iowa. https://youtu.be/rGzWjt1fV_Q

[–] Postmortal_Pop@lemmy.world 37 points 2 months ago

I think my favorite part is this chicken made out of dog.

[–] CmdrShepard49@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 months ago

Wonder what happened to this guy.

[–] MourningDove@lemmy.zip 1 points 2 months ago

Fucking gross.

[–] Proprietary_Blend@lemmy.world 23 points 2 months ago (2 children)

I had no idea they appreciated the cinematic stylings of John Carpenter so deeply.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 2 months ago

I was thinking Cronenberg

[–] Hadriscus@jlai.lu 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

oh how I would love a Christmas Thing! splendid idea

[–] wildncrazyguy138@fedia.io 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

The Thing is a Christmas movie.

[–] Hadriscus@jlai.lu 2 points 2 months ago

that makes sense

I was about to say something about how Brexit must have really messed up municipal governments' budgets in order for a town to approve something this obviously shoddy, but down in the middle of the article

It remains unclear who is behind the shoddy artwork. A source familiar with the situation said the decoration had been put up by the landlord, not Côte Brasserie or the Bill’s Kingston Restaurant. Futurism has also reached out to the local municipality for clarification.

That headline is misleading

[–] M0oP0o@mander.xyz 13 points 2 months ago

This seems like a great profile picture.

[–] eronth@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I like how whoever generated that mural looked at it and was like "yeah this should pass". Or maybe it's a manager who requested it, idk. Regardless, it's wild this got actually put up.

[–] skisnow@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

My guess it was okayed by someone who checked it on their mobile without zooming in. Or more likely a troll job.

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 9 points 2 months ago

I love how obvious it is that multiple people must have seen the problem and were like, naaaah, it'll be fine...

[–] RizzRustbolt@lemmy.world 9 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Eldritch.

Cthonic is something else.

[–] Rcklsabndn@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 months ago

Cthonic just means from the underworld. Not always evil or horrifying, at least as I understand it.

[–] aeronmelon@lemmy.world 7 points 2 months ago

Play AI games, win horrifying prizes.

[–] Evil_Shrubbery@thelemmy.club 6 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Nah, that's just how rural towns look like, don't be rude.

Did you really think a racist dude like Lovecraft had imagination?

[–] Fedizen@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

This is the uncanny valley in action.

Also: They could have paid an actual artist to do a real mural.

[–] SabinStargem@lemmy.today 3 points 2 months ago

Ah, this will inspire many a D&D campaign. I approve.

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 3 points 2 months ago

When I took acid and looked at a picture of a Hieronlymous Bosch painting, it was a bit like that. Considering my views on commercialized holidays, this mural seems entirely in tune with the festive season.

[–] miguel@fedia.io 3 points 2 months ago

That's really out there, did they even check the output first?

[–] Aggravationstation@feddit.uk 1 points 2 months ago

I don't even understand what the prompt could have been here or what it's trying to depict. Christmas, shipwreck, horror, boat?

[–] MourningDove@lemmy.zip 1 points 2 months ago

Serves them right.
