He said all Americans must come together to make this possible, adding that the funds will come from the private sector, like pension accounts, retirement savings, and insurance companies.

And there it is…fuck that.

The race towards what exactly? More advanced AI would take research funds, and the US cut research, so... What are we racing towards? A dystopian surveillance state?

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 5 points 6 days ago

Wow, so you really want to steal all the Americans blind.

Well, they voted for it, so good luck, I guess?

BlackRock, sitting on trillions startels eyeballing starving people's lifelines...

Watch enough Drey Dossier and you’ll start to really despise that Larry Ellison guy. The guy is excellent at doing really big moves from the shadows. Like collecting data on everyone in a country, or combining healthcare with military data, or… or so much stuff…

Not true. I just shouted “ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME” and now people are looking in my direction and whispering.

I see the true American coming out in him.

They will steal everyone’s retirement funds in that country, then they will come for whoever else’s they can get. They’re thieves.

And their heads will be taking a permanent vacation from their bodies soon after

Stop selling our future in a vain attempt to sate your craving for bigger and bigger numbers. It's not gonna work.

They're like the worst kind of dragon: cruel, destructive, greedy and in urgent need of a slaying.

*Edit: changed "stuff your bottomless pockets" to "sate your craving for bigger and bigger numbers" to better convey that they'll never be happy and content.

Their pockets won't ever fill up, their craving won't ever be sated. "Number Go Up" may give them a brief fix, but it will never be enough.

That was ambiguous phrasing, sorry. I meant that it'll never work for filling their pockets, because the pockets will never be full.

  1. Get all the retirement saving dumped into AI slop.
  2. Economy inevitably crashes.
  3. No more retirement funds, old people are forced to work until they die.

The wealthy don't give a shit if we can retire or not.

[–] jasoman@lemmy.world 3 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Well my retirement was always going to be 9mm

I wish people would turn their suicidal ideation into rage.

Don't kill yourself. Kill a fascist.

[–] jasoman@lemmy.world 2 points 6 days ago

If i was motivated I wouldn't be suicidal

His solution is based on his self interest. For people's interest, the solution would be to not spend so much if they dont have the money and focus on uplifting the lower classes which are not so rich and solve problems which dont need this much money like increasing cybersecurity which would keep US safe from malicious use of AI and other cheaper solutions.

[–] SaltSong@startrek.website 8 points 1 week ago

Or maybe tax the rich? They have money. They just don't want to use it.

"Fink" is an appropriate name
